My buddy and I launched our boat (16 1/2' bass boat with 80 hp. merc) into the Tennessee river at Cuba landing. As we cruised to our favorite hole, we realized the wind had picked up. We passed a tow boat heading up-river but didn't give it much thought as it was far away. all of a sudden, we found ourselves facing a wall of water behind a deep trough. the nose of the boat dived as the wave crashed head on into us. (the wave had to have been 3 or 4' tall) As we tried to gather our collective wits we were struck by a second wave of similar magnatude. When all was said and done, we lost our docking lights, nearly capsized and flodded the entire boat. We turned on the bilge pump and considered calling it a day. Because we lived so far away we chose to dry out and fish. We had a great time, but still have no idea as to what spawned those damned waves!
