scout scope,shotgun , handgun scopes

could you put a scout scope,shotgun or handgun scope on a rifle or would the eye relief be too much?

Most shotgun scopes have about 5 to 6 inches of eye relief, they fit some rifles very well, I have one on a Savage 24 30-30 over 20 gauge.  Just depends on how the rifle is built.  Pistol scopes are a little long in the eye relief area so have to mounted far forward.  Larry
