Yeah, I think it was glowing on the front instead of the rear.   ;D

Please tell me Southpaw's bowling ball was fired in any direction other than east! I'd hate to have that thing land in my back yard here in Virginia!  ;D

What I really want to know is ..... where did my Bowling Ball go ? The SeaCoast guys killed it with a 1 1/2 lb charge . When it went off no one saw any thing but a huge ..did I say HUGE cloud of smoke ?  High speed photography needed to see just really happened . Personally I think it is on its way to Mars ... ;D
...

I SAW IT!   In low earth orbit coming over the Blue Ridge Parkway, crossing the Long Trail and Eastern Contental Divide.  Mearly a blur with a strange whistling sound!

And still MORE pics of the Montana cannon shoot....
(I pity the poor people with dial-up accounts)

Fearless leader shows us how it's done:

And yet another pic of Mike and Tracys fantastic piece of work:

That spec in the upper left is a 5 gallon water bottle of concrete!:

You cannot tell from the pic just how big a hole that chunk of concrete makes:

If you have not met Mike or tracy you have no idea how personable they are, if you get a chance, don't miss it:

GGaskill brough a whole truck load of ordnance (I know I helped unload some of them) this is his bowling ball mortar. It threw a ball a remarkable distance:

Last but (I hope) not least I felt kinda foolish with guys all around me shooting giant balls to 3 or 5 hundred yards, and trash cans full of cement into the next county, I was attempting to hit a stake at 30 yds with a golf ball:

I for one had a great time, and assuming we haven't killed off DoubleD with this one, really hope to see another shoot next year to add to the new friends well met this year.

Thanks again Doug,
MikeR C

Okay it didn't go that far, but some one on a combine is going to be awfully surprised  in few weeks when the harvest the grain in the field south of the range.

Mike RC,

Yes the big guns were truely impressive, but frankly the craftmanship of your guns is impressive in it own right.

Your wife's picture wowed us all last year.

Glad you were able to join us.  Hope your wife is feeling better.

Looks like everyone had a great day for this,  nice set of photo's

but the Video does not work

The people from my Fotohosting site tell that the reason you can't see my video is  becasue the format I am using works only with IE.

They told me how to code it for correct use on this board.

Please go back and see if the fix works.  Thanks.

I just got through looking @ my Video footage .... :(
I had my 14 year old Granddaughter ruining the camera . Got lots of conversation and pictures of hits down range but no people or cannon shots  ???.
Bless her heart , she tried but really didn't understand the tripod would let you follow the action .  >:(
So no video from the Southpaw ,  But I did get a couple of my Daughter and Cousin .
Bruce Checking the fuse placement

Wendy  lighting off a 200 yard-er .

 The "Amigios " on Sunday

Who ever said , don't get to busy having fun to forget to take pictures was right ......
Just too much fun going on , and wanting to watch the others shoot their ... What ever they brought .
Gary brought enough hats for every one on Saturday , by Sunday this group picture lacks a few of the participants and hats ! .... It was a great Week end , Even my Wife enjoyed the event .  This morning she asked how she rated , as in 1 - 10  . She normally does not like my choise of activities , But this week end she was a 12 !
No , I'm ready to go , "or are you done yet ? " ::)

A special Thank you to Doug aka DD and his loving wife Katherine .... They did an inordinate amount of work putting this whole event together . The idea , the work , the physical making of targets , the mowing (by hand pushed mowers ) the clean up , dissasembley ,  the evening activities , all done wholly by Doug and Katherine .
I would have never guessed that people would come from far as  and wide  to attend this event . I am very pleased to have met all of you who attended . I offer up this farm site for next year if the present area is not available . I have 1/2 mile of flat range that can be used .( Up to 6 miles if need be )
Camping sites would be available here on the farm .  Bring your bags ...Mike ,Tracy, Gary .  ;D Motels are 40 miles away .  Water and sewerage can be acomodated. ( dump over the hill , fill in town )
Looking forward to next years event and .... hoping to attend other events in the PNW .

Thanks again Doug and Katherine.

Now I have to get to work , Clean up the motrar , and get ready of a camping trip .

Ernie, thanks for the kind words.  If it hadn't been for the loan of your truck last week when the wheel bearing in mine went out, I'm not sure what I would have done.  Thanks for all you help.

There should be more pictures coming when, George, Mike and Tracy get home.  There would be even more rom Gary, but he won't get a Fotottime accounts so he doesn't have to worry about resizing pictures/

Well, it sounds like a successful first ever Annual "Cut Bank Cannoneers Convention"! (You can use that for T-shirts and Caps) Wish I could have attended, and surely hope to next year! But the weekend wasn't a total bust for me, I went to Terrabonne, Or. and met Chuck, the host for the Lone Pine Shoot, next one to be held over Labor Day weekend. I called him from his front gate, and he said "Come on up , I'm making Bullets" so, went up and met him, and one of his "little beauties", a full sized Parrot Rifle, which he was casting projectiles for! If any of you guys can make it to Central Oregon Labor Day weekend, it should be a great one, too! I saw his ranges all set up, covering a hillside, and there will be plenty of space available for camping, (it a bit of a drive into town!) and Saturday night is a big BBQ planned. The last "shoot" on Memorial Day weekend saw 32 cannons, we'll see what this one brings! BTW, I hope Ed Hart made it out of Billings and back home with no further problems! I'll be waiting for more pics and vids when everyone gets home! Douglas, it's looking like this thread is closing in on Backyard Cannon Fun for # of postings! BoomLover

The big boat towing the barge has finally found it's home port.  Fighting crosswinds for the last three hundred miles was no fun at all.  But, we certainly agree with Gary, the SHOOT was a Hoot!  I will look through the stills and especially the movies we captured and post any that are worthwhile tomorrow.  Right now I'm going to bed.

Not quite home yet but did make it into work about 1:30 this afternoon.  Home is another 9 miles.  Added about a half quart of ATF+4 ($10 a quart) in Vegas this morning.

Trip odometer said 3225 when I finally parked in my driveway this evening.
