ive always dired my pelts in the sunlight and fur buyers never said any thing about it, i just read a thing that this a no no and your supposed to dry them in a dark shed,whats the deal

People make different gripes about it. Some say the skin is darker. Some say it releases the natural oils and is not as supple. Some say it makes them brittle. Most of the old furriers refer to them as burnt. They will not buy the dark pelts. Same thing with freeze damaged pelts.

 I always dry my fleshed and stretched furs ,in my cool basement. The only light down there,is electric.
 Drying in the sun or in to warm a room, can cause the fur to dry to rapidly.This can result in the pelt ripping where it is pinned or hooked.

when in spring bvr camp, my bvr are hung in trees outside to dry.  Only thing i do is if it is going to rain i put plastic over hides so they dont get wet ... never had any problems... with pelts or selling..
