As Peter Sellers used to say in the Pink Panther flics, "case sol-vead"; is this the same Dahlgren boat howitzer from Dom's thread "Another Dahlgren Boat Howitzer"? If it is, Dominick has already recieved his praise, so all that's left to do is congratulate you on recieving a great looking gun and for having a very considerate wife.
RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

The one thing that you can almost always rely on research leading to, is more research.

Congratulations, Cpt Ed, now you can arrive at the Hernando Sportsman's Club Cannon Shoot in style!  It looks really nice.

Thank you Tracy & Mike,

Yes I am planning to do just that at the next Hernando Sportsman Club Cannon Shoot now scheduled for Sunday, March 22nd, 2009.
It will fit in very nicely next to the other fine Artillery pieces created by Dom Carpenter.

HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL THERE…..

I'm looking forward to seeing it in person.  This event has been added to the  "Upcoming Cannon Shoots and events".

Dom Carpenter

Now I understand.  When someone mentioned a "carpenter cannon" a few days ago, I almost asked if it was one made out of wood or what.  Forgive me Mr. Carpenter.

Nice looking gun Ed.  I would not mind a few more angles and close ups.  I keep thinking I will get off and to the Hernando shoot one day.  Combining a cannon or MG shoot and a dive just seems the ideal vacation.

PS I can not find a web page for Mr. Carpenter.
