ace, question on weasel musk in coyote lure

Matt:
I have experimented with about every imaginable musk on canines.  Certainly all musks hold a curiosity attraction to the fox and coyote, otherwise they wouldn't be so interested in strange odors like tonquin, civet, etc.  However, I did note some canine hesitation at mock sets lured with both mink musk or weasel musk.  I test my ideas in huge sand pits so I can see from tracks how animals approach the test scent and how they work it.  This is just speculation but I think that canines are hesitant to stick their noses into a hole where a weasel or mink might be hiding.  Common sense would tell one they might get bit on the nose.  I have had a Labrador and a Samoyed dog that stuck their noses in woodchuck holes and got themselved bitten on the nose.  These dogs would never go near a woodchuck den again.  I suspect that coyote and fox have had such experiences which teaches them to be cautious.  I noted that fox were more wary than coyotes of the holes lured with these musks.  Just my opinion!
