My daughter took her first one with the BOB
« on: December 22, 2008, 11:24:15 AM »
My 9 yo daughter and I were Sitting in a Box stand on Friday evening when a pair of nice does walked out. She was cool, calm and collected when I told her to get ready. She laid down "Her" mod 70 in  257 Bob and found a doe in her scope. She said that she had her and asked me to flip the safety. I took of the safety offand she immediately pulled the trigger. The doe went 20 yards and piled up. I couldn't have been any more proud. The funny thing is that the second one stepped back out and we switched places and put some extra meat in the freezer. Hers was shot right i right in the boiler room, taking both lungs and clipping the heart and mine was shot in the sholder.

Congrats to your daughter!

My favorite rifle is my Ruger Bob.  Great little cartridge.

Congrats to your daughter.  If you look at my avatar, you will see my daughter's first deer.  She shot her's with a borrowed Rem 788 in .243.  She shot her second one this year with the same borrowed gun.

Do you have a cut down stock installed on the Mod 70 for her?  I am asking because I am trying to set my daughter up with her own gun that actually fits.

Merry Christmas.

Actually Dan, She is shooting the full sized stock. The rifle is a featherweight and has a 12.75 lop. She seems to do fine with it so I have made no modifications.
Merry Christmas all.
