Really there are so few of them not already in the hands of Ruger collectors who will never sell them until they die and their heirs sell them that if you really want one you best not hesitate and like most rare things they are worth whatever a buyer who really wants one is willing to pay. Rest assured that if it's in a gunshop you better not hesitate or it will be gone when you return.

I long ago learned that lesson the hard way. If you see an item you've long wanted do not hesitate do not worry about the cost just buy the damn thing before someone else does.

You are into it at a fair price if in the condition you describe. You going to use it? If so, care for it and don't holster it in leather. Wipe it down but don't over do cleaning it, that way you won't lose money. Congrats, they are hard to come by.

Just a couple years ago these were easy to find and could be had for $500+.  SEems some are getting bought up as project guns and IMO, being destroyed buy the rechambering they recieve.  I'd LOVE to get one, preferrably the 10 1/2" model but for a shooter, I'm wait for that elusive "shooter grade" one I know is up here someplace.

I fell asleep during the end of an auction and a 10 1/2 inch one sold for 650, my last bid was 625, thats why I jumped on this one, I think I will buy a 10 1/2 one if I can find another.

I use the max in my rifle and I think the revolver would be great to hunt with. 8)

There were two MAXs in GUN KIST this last issue.
Sorry don't remember the cost and didn't keep the issue.
Maybe some one has a copy and could look them up.
Love mine!  7.5" and like GB said NOT FOR SALE!

Picked it up from my FFL this thing looks like it has never been shot, almost no ring around the cylinder perfect bluing and no scratches or chips in the grips, With box and papers. I am pretty happy so far. 8)
