Yup, I can say ith 100% certainty, I will NOT be getting one of those.

The .41 short mag is interesting though. At least they're doing some R&D for new stuff. More than some others have done the last few years.

Beauty is truly in the "eye of the beholder". I like it but they need to do the cylinder to. Make that change and add adjustable sights and they might could talk me into one. In .44 Special of course.

At least with the Rodeo you could take some steel wool and get a nice 'aged' and 'well used' look to it, something I enjoy. And this new 'removable' firing pin (for safety's sake, of course), I can see getting that lost just when you need it. More foolishness to please the fools in Washington D.C. 44 Man

Maybe, but that is how I am getting new rifles these days. I fought rust for a long time living in a place where it is either raining or snowing any time I have to hunt. I don't know anything about this multi-colored coating, but if it keeps the gun from rusting up I guess I would have to think about it.

P.S. My Vaquero is Stainless and Rosewood. Tupperware was not an option.

Well I hope they don't plan on installing the new type firing pin on ones we might send in for service like some others do. The main point of their single actions was being a close copy with no extra's. Or at least it was.

yep and they got a big raise for cutting production costs no expensive polishing required like for blue. Paint is quick cheap and easy.

It looks like they are still offering all the guns they used to, and just added these perhaps to attract more buyers. Looks pretty simple to me: don't buy the ones you don't like. My guess is that they are looking for more market share, and that may keep them in business.

Selling these is not what is going to keep them in business. Although the thought of a .44 mag is nice as long as the frame and cylinder are not as big as a Ruger. 44 Man

It would seem that you and the company disagree. They must have seen a market, and moved to exploit it. And apparently they didn't include you in their focus group research. Perhaps because you aren't the demographic they were aiming for.

got to agree. they obviously didnt include me in there consumer survey either but then i doubt they included any avid sixgun shooter or owner or they wouldnt have done this. I know alot of sixgunners in this country and many of the bigger names and i havent heard one of them thats not pinching there nose off on this one. I think its just a matter of a company listening to yuppy bean counters instead of listening to there customers. People buy sa guns because there traditional. Handgun hunters will sway as far as a stainless gun because they know the advantages but these give no advantage over a stainless and look like something (well i cant figure out what to put here). Personaly i think usfa is going to loose more bussiness over these then they will gain. Whats next? green parker side by sides!!

Lloyd I agree that the traditionalists like us will really have to wonder what the hell they are thinking. But perhaps they are trying to attract the tactical tupperwear crowd. I think that is a pretty half baked idea but it is the only thing I can think of. Heck part of what kept me away from FAs for so many years was that they are stainless, I hate stainless!

What I find more disturbing is the whole firing pin idea they have. I see it as bowing to big brother but then look where they are made, harder to make a stand in a state that they might not even be able to sell the guns they produce! I hope they do alright with this and all the other product lines they make but I sure am not going to buy one....

I'm a little rough on blued handguns, stainless works for my using guns. The coating might be better for my eyes if it was black, blue or gray. The colors they used are pretty bad. DP

But it sounds like the new firing pin will be on everything except custom shop guns..... or you can pay 'extra' for the 'traditional' hammer. This means the new hammer is not 'traditional' Being 'traditional' guns is what has made USFA famous, that and their quality. I think it would be more benifical to continue to offer traditional guns as they are used to being made. If you want to expand, then offer something like the Rodeo in stainless for a 'working gun'.
Which begs another question;
I still cannot understand why ANY gun manufacturer continues to build guns in 'anti gun' states. Take those jobs and all that tax money to a state that appreciates you being there! Why continue to do business with a state that openly dispises your industry. That is one of the few things that legilatures understand; tax base and jobs. 44 Man

fowler i see your point but still dont believe it will fly. If they wanted to diverse why not something that is going to sell. They allready make a 1911 so they could have expanded that line into a affordable line or if they wanted to go tactical ARs are flying off the shelf as fast as they can make them. A traditional ar like a sp1 would have been something they could have played with. I just dont think anybody into tactical guns or tactical gear is all that intersted in single action guns unless its someone like me thats into all types of guns. Problem is a guy like me still has traditional tastes. I love ars and wouldnt want one with blued steel and a wood stock. It just wouldnt look right. I dont mind sigs and glocks but i think one with wood grips would look like crap. Just as green and red sixguns look like crap just as the tiger striped Desert eagles and the pink charter arms guns do. I guess i could be wrong and they may actually sell a half a dozen of them but not to any of the people i keep company with.

I like blue with elephant ivory myself. But I think yall are missing the nitch. Deer hunting is BIG, and is big busness. Here in Texas people spend A LOT OF $ on it. They buy camo every damn thing. Hide in elevated blinds, put out 100's of pouds of corn, and will spend cash for anythig that they think will help.
If they want to try hunting with a handgun this will be there kind of gun. It's camo, it will fit a holster, (can't forget to take the super mangnum with the big scope), and just maybe bambi will come close enough to use it on.

I will reserve judgment until I see one, but if they will generate interest for new hunters and shooters to join the sport, I hope they are very successful. I am old school and prefer blue steel and walnut, but I also own and shoot stainless, fiberglass and plastics. They all have their place and we need for all of the firearms manufacturers to stay in business. Do they make a black .45Colt with about a 5 inch barrel?
