The X7 is a virgin no more. I was planning on going out behind the house for an evening hunt. But the temp was 44 degrees & wind was 30mph with 50mph gusts. Didnt think anything would be moving tonight. So the wife went & ran some errands with the girls & left my 15 mth old with me. About 3.40 pm I watched a couple does croos the neighbors field , heading for the Oaks at the back of my property. Just then the wife pulled in the drive, I handed off the baby, threw my coat on & grabbed the X7. Loaded on the run .wind was in my face & loud. I snuck threw some pines , Seen 2 does 70 yards out.. Dropped to my knee. & fired. 200 grain SST 70 grains BH209. The doe was quartered to me slightly. . Hit her a little high right behind the shoulder, exited right behind the last rib. Took out the top of both lungs & nicked the liver. Doe went 50 yards & piled up. Blood trail right from the start was good. Walked back to the house, asked the girls My 7 yr old twins if they wanted to help track the deer. They were geeked. I showed them roughly where the deer was standing. They found blood 10 ft away & followed it to the deer. Then they helped with the field dressing. That was the test. They passed. They will be in the stand with me next year. Its been hard for me to get in the woods this year with the baby & all. Just glad I got to harvest a deer with the X7 & get the girls involved. Oh yeah we just bought this house. So this year Ive got a nice turkey & now a deer on MY property. AWESOME
