I owe you guys a big thanks
« on: December 30, 2008, 04:06:50 PM »
I would be a huge cad if I did not thank you guys.

I shot these groups after asking you all for help last week with my Marlin 357 cowboy.  Thanks to your suggestions I am now getting the kind of groups I wanted out of this gun.  These were shot at 50 yards.

The tightest group with the penny next to it was 13.5 grains of H110 with a 158 gr. Sierra JHC bullet.  The flyer was my fault. I knew as soon as I pulled the trigger I blew the shot.

The other group (which is still a huge improvement over my first test groups) was 16.5 grains of H110 with the same bullet.

Thanks to all of you who gave input for getting me pointed in the right direction with loads for this gun.

Heavier jacketed bullets.  Made a huge improvement.

Next, try some LilGun with that same bullet.  If you have a chrono, run them both over it.  LilGun is an outstanding powder for the 357.  With the 158g jacketed, I used Brian Peirce's load out of the Handloader magazine.  It shoots real good out of all 5 rifles and my GP100.  One of my sons and I each took turkeys with that load this year using Handi rifles.  DP
