S&W 442 or Ruger LCP
« on: January 01, 2009, 12:40:15 PM »
Maybe you guys can help me decide on something, should I trade my S&W 442 for a Ruger LCP? I would like something a little thinner and lighter than the snubby but I don't want to regret getting rid of the 442.

I have a 642 and a P3AT (same as LCP). I like my P3AT, but I would not trade a 442 for it. I am positive I would regret it sooner than later.

I have the LCP.  I got one of the early ones and had to send it back to the factory but still am very happy with it.  I have tried several brands of ammo in it and have had 0 failures.  It carries so easy.  I am not going to trade it off but am thinking of getting a snubby revolver just for another carry option but am afraid I would still just carry the ruger.  I have three holsters for it, and am able to carry it with any type of clothing I wear.

Why trade?  Get the LCP.  You can have another gun.  It's alright.  You're among friends.  Get the LCP and compare them.  Decide which you wish to carry, and when, unless you want to carry them both (real fast reload...)

You have a wide range of ammo options for the 442 but not so many for the LCP.  Regardless, I carry both calibers at different times.  The 380 with straight ball and the 38 with heavy cast semi wadcutters.  Neither load is P+.  Both work.

Both choices have their place.  No matter what you decide, one or the other or both.  It will be interesting to hear your comparison if you get the LCP.  Mikey.

Well, after holding an LCP, I decided to keep my 442 and put Crimson Trace Grips on it.  Does anyone have these on their j-frame?
