Is it possible
« on: January 02, 2009, 12:21:33 PM »
I have a Remington/Spartan o/u 12 guage. I would like to have a 20 guage barrel for it as well. Will Remington do this? And do you recommend sending it to them after hearing all the gripes here? Or should I just find a local smith to do it.
Thanks,
Jim

I think it may be cheaper to buy a new 20ga than have a smith make you a set of tubes.
As for Remington Not sure but if they do it too is not going to be cheap.
E-mail them and ask.
Everytime I e-mailed them I got a response with in a week about this or that.

NO Remington WILL NOT do it for you and I seriously doubt anyone else will either. It's an idea best forgotten. It will be cheaper to just buy another low cost O/U in 20 gauge even if you could find someone who'd do it.

There are always the briley insert tubes that mount in your 12 ga and even use the extractors or ejectors to get the 20 ga hulls out.  The chamber inserts need to be knocked out with a pencil.

Thanks for the replies. It was just a thought I had rolling around in my head. I didn't know if they were different receivers or not. I thought I saw a stroeger shotgun setup that came with different guage barrels and was just wondeing if it could be done.
