Hello all. I have a 15" .308 encore pistol that can be a real beast, but I can manage it. So in comparison of recoil, I'm wondering a couple of things about the muzzleloader barrel. Been thinking about trying one and heard that most who shoot them, only use 50-70 gr's of bp. People seem to complain about the excessive recoil and say that any more powder than that is a waste anyway. Is this true? How does the ml pistol compare to my .308 in recoil? Would the use of more powder, say 100-120 gr's of bh 209 be a waste of powder in a short barrel? Anybody shoot one through a chrono and see what diferent loads do for the gun?
I'm very interested in this barrel as of lately, especially with the new blackhorn 209 out and about. Another thing I was wondering was whether t/c put out a 209x45 pistol barrel? If you were to hunt with a 15" ml pistol, What caliber and load would you choose out to 100 yards? And would 150 yards be ethical with either, so long as my ability proves satisfactory? Any comments and info are welcome. Thanks. jammer
