Please check your facts before you say that OBAMA had it special ordered.  The current 747-400 series is reaching the end of it's service life as AF1.  I have worked the taskings for comm capabilities for this new aircraft several times in the past year.  Well before OBAMA was anything other than a dream for the socialists.  The new AF1 has been in the planning/development stages for a couple of years now.  If I remember the time frame correctly, the new planes will come on-line in 2011-2012.

Well... it looks like I sort of steppen on my willy here.  Sorry guys.  I did view the first one just see if there were any changes since I first got to tour the new aircraft back in about 1990 or so.  I didn't view the second one until last night to see what I got busted on.  In fact I only watched about the first 15 seconds of that one before I decided not to waste any more time.

Background: I was involved in putting computers and stuff in the new AF1 hanger complex at Andrews Air Force base back then.  We got a tour as a perk.  I flew on Kennedy's AF1 before it retired but I've never flown on the current planes.  I was assigned to White House Communications Agency for six years from 88-94.  Cool job.  Now I'm at European Command HQ's in Stuttgart, Germany.  I function as an Action Officer and get to review and write responses to myriad Joint Staff Taskers (don't ask... you really don't want to have to sit through the explanation).  In the past year or so I've worked the ones that deal with comm systems for the new AF1 planes.  I tend to get anything that comes through that deals with the White House since they think I'm an expert on it.  I didn't mean to tick anyone off.  I thought the remark about Obama ordering it was for real and since I KNOW it didn't work that way I fired back before I checked my target.   Sorry...  I'll try to be better in the future.
