Help... what is this stuff?
« on: January 04, 2009, 08:05:15 AM »
Hi y'all,
A brother-in-law found this stuff at an auction and sent it to me because he was told it was for reloading bullets, and he knows I do some reloading... problem is, I don't quite know what this stuff is, or how to use it. (All my current reloading is with Lee tools, they are simple and do the job just fine for me.)

I suspect there are some bits missing, but maybe not..? Any info would be appreciated.

Cheers
Kerry

Micrometer thingy for measuring...what... ?

Trimmer, reamer, or...? MIssing a shell holder maybe..? No markings.

The top piece looks like a OAL case/cartridge checker The second Is a neck chamfer tool probabl a case trimmer/inside outside chamfer tool last piece is a chamber bore guide for cleaning your rifle from the brech end, keeps your rods from hitting the bore and keeps solvents out of your action.  The 2nd piece looks like its from Sinclair The wilson stuff is easy to find. Good equippment

Thanks for that info Bob.

With that info, I figure I can set up the OAL checker pretty easily; and use the bore guide, (though I'm guessing the 24T stamped on it means its for a .24 cal - which I don't have). Only thing I still don't get is the neck chamfer/case trimmer tool... I actually tried it on a couple of cases for inside chamfer, ('cuz that's what it looked like it was for) but there was no way to hold the case steady except by hand... is that how it is supposed to work, or is there some kind of shell holder missing? If there's nothing else to hold the case it seems like it will be pretty hard to trim cases with it, or am I missing something?

Cheers

Top one is a case trimmer with a micrometer adjustment, you'll need Wilson type case holders and a cutter/handle for it.  The chamfer tool uses the same case holders I would bet.
