Need 32-20 advice.

I am currently shooting 100 gr. Winchester ammo. in my single shot Handi 32-20 and am thinking of reloading the cases with 150 gr. Hornady spire points with .312 dia.
I made up a dummy round with said bullet crimped at the cannelure and it chambered and ejected fine.
There is nothing wrong with the 100 gr. bullets, I just want to try a heavier bullet for coyotes and targets.
What do you guys think??
Do you see any problems working up a load using the 150's??
Any advice is appreciated.

Well, your not going to get them moving too fast. but just target stuff, NO I don't see a problem...

Some time back I remember reading a story about ultra heavy for caliber bullets... leveraction rifles maybe..I don't remember for sure....

What is it that your trying to achieve?

I'm not really trying to gain anything, just want to try something different. I like the idea of a little heavier bullet for coyotes up close from a ground blind. Mostly for shooting paper though. Just one of those "can I do it" things.

I doubt that you can get them moving fast enough for the 1:20" twist to stabilize them well - unless you have a tighter twist rate in your Handi barrel.  They will not expand in a coyote anyway.  Better to try a lighter bullet designed for the 7.62x39 if you want accuracy and expansion.

I bought a thousand very nice 115 SWC's some years back just for this purpose...

 I'll check the box and see if I can get you a pic of a bulet and the box tomarrow if you would like to see them...

AA1680 10-12 grains should get you a starting point.  Check AA manual for more load data.

10.0 grains of AA1680 with RCBS 165 Silhouette in my .32 mag has a rainbow trajectory, but knocks over 60 pound steel rams at 200 meters. 

I have some hotter loads with 4227 and 296, but do not recall them off the top of my head.  Most of my favorite loads were the milder ones that didn't have all the recoil.
