Bisley hunter front sight replacement
« on: January 05, 2009, 06:49:00 PM »
I have asked before a while back but thought I would check again.  I would really like a replacement front sight for my 44 Bisley Hunter model.  I don't care for plastic colored fronts, and my color blind friend HATES them!  He likes shooting my guns, but not this one.

I would really like a quality black front post.  I plan to replace the rear with Bowen Roug Country if I even find a better front.  The custom guys want more that $100 to make me a new front sight.  Considering that this is a removeable sight setup I would have thought you could get replacements, but not that I can find.  Why would Ruger go to the trouble of making this an easily replaceable front sight and offer one type...period.  seems silly.  Oh well.

I have another scoped 44 and really wanted this one as my open sighted gun.  Do I really have to spend more than $100 to get a decent steel front sight.
Be honest with yourself.  Can you guarantee you would hit a paper plate at 250 yards...100 yards...50 yards?  Then you have no business replacing the plate with a live animal.

It will accept redhawk sights.  There will be a small gap on the sides, but I use a gold bead front designed for a redhawk.

Do they make flat black posts for the Redhawk?  That is Ruger, or anyone else?

I realize this is an older thread , but it poses a question maybe someone can answer.  I own a Ruger Redhawk , 4 incher........also just bought (several months ago ) a Ruger SBH Hunter with the bisley grip frame........I wanted to put a fiber optic insert on the front sight of the SBH.  According to several online stores , the front sight of the SBH will interchange with the Redhawk........not so with mine.  My SRH 454 comes close to interchanging with the SBH....but as someone else said it leaves a gap along each side of the sight.   Looks like crap !  Anyway will some of the Redhawks interchange with the SBH Hunters ?

Bowen makes a solid black ramp sight that fits a Redhawk. Not sure how it will work in your Hunter.

I thought they would all work, just have that "gap". I guess the single actions have a wider rib than the Redhawk.
