Rode all day Monday, and most of yesterday - In the 40s in the early am and blue sky (stars shining bright when we fired up and headed out). Again, no plan, just breakfast here and lunch there, etc. Nice weather predicted for next couple days too.
Worked a while this morning and came home to try to get a damn squirrel out of the fireplace chimney. Got through the hood somehow, and was in between the liner and the outer heat shield. Barkin' and chattering and scratching like hell. OL all up in a tither (me too). Aint no way we're going to cut into the walls, open up the front, or the like. Got a 15 foot telescoping pole that came with the underwater camera - so went to town, got a package of big 5/0 muskie hooks and screwed two of them to the tip of it. Figured we could snag him, and then thread him up and out past all the braces that center up the inner pipe. Well, that was a rodeo - trying to hold the spotlight and get him with the hooks. Pretty much had our minds made up that he's gonna be stinking in there just in time for the holidays. So, just for a last ditch, I hung a rope down in - wondered if his toenails were maybe worn down too much to get a hook on it, from all the scratching around. 'Bout an hour ago, I hear some movement behind the mantle and lot more scratching. Damned if he didn't get up that rope and out. At least I can't see him in there with the light anymore. Got lucky...... and so did he. Man, if we had got him with the hooks, I sure wouldn't have wanted to try to get him unhooked.
Squirrels in chimneys got nothing to do with motorcycles, buy hey, ... Had to have a drink after he found his way out, and that's a good time to check in here and write some.
You boys that are still riding in good weather.... Be careful! Those who are in for the winter... what kind of work are you planning to do on the bikes?
As always, hoping this find everyone well;
Respect;
