I fished for white bass all morning and finally said screw it we need more rain to get them running. I mounted up on the bike and rode a couple of hours. I think I am ready to ride guys. The bike runs are starting down here but so are the turkeys. I need a little shotgun and bow time again.  Getting the wrinkles out of the decoys and warming up the slate call.

Well D&H, at least you got out there - catch 'em or not. Our trout season opens Saturday morning, and we'll take a vacation day. The weather will be anybody's guess, but gonna be there. Yesterday, about 6 inches of snow - today sun is shining and most if it gone. What the hell?? We had a walley/sauger tournament here over the weekend - river is way high and up in the bottoms, and it was COLD. Big prize money, and these guys go out no matter what. Haven't heard yet who won, but hope it was some of the local boys. For sure they had to work at it - more to it than luck.
  Stayed in and worked on the little rifle, did some reading and had a few beers. Snow is a bummer, and now there will be plenty more salt dust on the roads - maybe we'll be able to ride in May??

I have had the sporty out and running around town for a full tank of gas without a brake down. Ready to hit the road for a run on it to see if the bad girl will lay down on me. Saturday is going to be great for riding but Easter is going to be  100% rain for the whole state of Oklahoma. It is needed since the state is on fire all over and the wind is 30 to 60 mph honestly.

In the 50s and sunny today. Rolled both bikes out, got the oil and primary changed in the 'King, then rode each about 20 miles. Man, it felt good. All is well - no leaks, no hassles. Headin' up to OLs niece's for supper - wish we could haul all the stuff we're taking on the bikes, (only 60 miles), but that aint gonna happen. Tomorrow supposed to get into the 60s and will be the day. Don't know where we are gonna go yet - in the AM will just pick a direction and ride. Finally.
    All of you have a fine Easter and ride careful;

Got the timing reset on the old wing Fri , rode a few miles to check it out and seems fine so far. I went to Elizabethton today with my brother in law to pick up the spyder. Judy had a new fender , bags and a trunk installed . She didn't ride mainly because it was cold out , cloudy and a few sprinkles. Bobby my other brother in law went also and we rode the 70 mile loop to Rogersville on the old road and back up 11 w . It was cold the whole way. But we did have a good time.

Had rain all day here and I'm planning a  ride tommorow. I joined ABATE and will ride the 65 miles to the first meeting tommorow. I have ride /campout near near Antlers Ok next weekend, followed by a rally in Lindsay Ok that I'm working as staff. The season is on here guys, should be riding every weekend for a while. Me and a few of the crew are taking the OL's to Cozumel in June to show them how to party a little. I plan on renting a bike and running the island a couple of laps.

Warmest day of the year in NW WI today, 75 degrees. Went straight home after work, put on the leather chaps, rode 50 miles south to Menominee. Met a friend there and closly inspected his new/used Fatboy, From there, headed to Chippewa Falls and then north to home base, warm weather and good times.

Gonna pick up my bike from the dealer tomorrow.  First time it's been there since the 600 mi. service.  Had to have them check some recall work done and just let them do a service, check it over and replace the fork seals I blew out on the SC run.   ::)  Gonna be a good day to ride!   ;D

Went today and looked at another 77 Wing. 26,600 miles on the clock, been sitting for 20 plus years in a garage. Was drecked out nice with cast boards large trunk and hard bags . Vetter with lowers .  It needs paint and the carbs cleaned and a little other maintenance to get going. He was asking 1600 but I am gonna try at 1000 . It would be a good bagger for longer rides . Have the bobber for short hops.
My bobber has almost 60 grand on the clock , never been apart and runs like a charm.This one would last me right on till the last.

Rode in thick mist all day yesterday but it was good and refreshing. I patched on that damn sporty and got a lot of the little bugs out it like a new bolt in the magneto, fixed the throttle cable stop and replaced the bottom stud on the front brake caliper.   I had a rattle in the sissy bar and fixed it. It only rattles now when the dryer is running in the shop because thats where it's laying next to it. I started to put saddle bag brackets back on it ,but until I actually need them I 'm leaving them off.  I have a guy begging me to buy his softtail fr 7 grand but I have too much else going on right now even as bad I want it.  Dang its starting to get fun again

Stopped by one of my bud's yesterday on the way out to see if he wanted tko ride a little . He had went to the bike show in Jc and took 2nd place in iron head sporty custom. He just built it and did a bobber style . He had the carb fall off on the way home and had to hold it in place with his knee. He used new style mount on the old 72 intake. He bought a 75 last week for 400 bucks and needs sheetmetal to finish that one . He also has a 70 or 71 model  complete .
 Needless to say he didn't get to ride and is ordering the correct intake boots ;D

Friday the wife and I rode over to Tellico Planes (300 miles) I rode the RS I am fixing up. Found that the insterment cluster needs to be replaced. Wife rode her '71 R75 found a cracked fuel line when we stoped for lunch. 30 min. to find fuel line 10 min to replace. Good campfire with good friends that night. Our old tent let us down and is nolonger waterproof. It was left at the campground. Saturday we rode up to the waterfall and came home just in time for the rain to start. Sunday setting around home in the heavy rain. Good 3 day week end.

OYD I need to get my tent out and throw a can of water repellant on mine. They have them on sale at Walmart for 27 dollars and I may just get a new one. The wind has whipped this old one around alot in the past and that pulls things loose at the seams for some good leaks. Sounds like a good ride you had.

We have several tents, from backpacker to 3 rooms. this was the wifes favorite, tall enugh to get dresed in and small enough to carry on the bike.I am actually going to work for a few days for the sister-in -law and after that I have orders to find one like it. I really hate to shop for toys, like guns, bike parts, camping things and fishing stuff. That reminds me I need to replace my tank bag and I need a new tackle box and a .44 leaver gun for bear season. I guess I will be short of time again this summer. I like to check out all the options.  I have been known to ride 3-400 miles to a rally and spend 3-4 days just looking for a part.

 ;D  The Cherokee Nc rally is this weekend . We are gonna run the Blueridge parkway and will go through there on the way down . It is just a few miles out of the way to run through there and check out the bikes . We are going to go down on Fri. and ride all day then run the way home on Sat. Should be a good day.
  4 OR 500 miles , may run the dragon while we are down that way also . Just don't know right now, and don't have definant plans . I like it like that , just run all day and return home the next using a different rout. ;D

 ;D  The run down south turned out right on. Went across Roan mountain hit the parkway at little switzerland and went south. Missed the signs that said the blueridge was closed at Mount Mitchel and had to turn around , it was alright mainly because I found a killer twisty going down the mountain. We went through Marion Nc and up I 40 across the rock at Black Mountain . I did get attacked by a wild bee in Old fort  :o, he left the stinger for a memento in my right wrist. ::)
   We went through Ashville Nc and came back on west 26 , somewhat over 350 miles total for that day.
   Sunday we went to Kentucky on old and new 58 to the tunnell at Middlesborough and turned south on 25 to Tennessee and then up 11 e back home 160 + miles on that one.
  There were lots of bikes and trikes out for the weekend and the weather was great. I also put on about 100 other miles not counted on the thursday and Saturday we didn't ride the official runs around the house and testing the old wing to check her out
You all get out and put on some miles , capture some bugs in yer teeth and have BIG FUN IN THE SUN

Had a good weekend with family near Antlers OK . Had good weather except for the wind that was a little much for fishing in the canoes we had. Built a fire every night and enjoyed a beer smelling the pines. Rode the 100 miles without much of a problem besides a cager who had to pass a car while meeting me. He now knows he is my #1 friend of all time. Just before getting to the get together I noticed the clutch was pulling at a stopsign and looked down and noticed oil on the kick starter and the oil tank. I made it to the resort and the clutch had quit. I then noticed the sprocket seal was leaking the last of the primary lube out so it got parked. I had room on the trailer my OL was draggin with a smoker on it so I made the weekend and dragged her home. I have to make a run to OKC for some parts now. The dang generator has a bearing retention washer gizzed up in it so I can pick up one of those also.

Reset my odometer at 1.00 pm Sunday and now it reads 350 plus miles so I have racked up another close to 150 Tue and thurs afternoon riding , 60 or so was with one of the guys at work , we rode Tue afternoon on a few backroads after we got off . Was much fun just cruzin around looking at the scenery as it slid by.

  The old wing is running good enough to ride, but it does need another intake fabbed up to improve the low running. I need to capture some aluminum pipe and a couple of 1/4 plates , calculate the runner offset and weld up one someday.
The 32/36 Webber is doing better than I thought it would. I may just order another jet kit and try that 38/38 I have sitting around and see if there is any performance increase with the addition of a barrel for each 2 cylinders over the progressive 32/36 setup feeding 4 cylinders on just one barrel.
I have the timing set a little high for better top end and need to run it at 7500 chop it and see what the plug says on fuel mix . I suspect it is runnin a little rich on the top probably from 6500 to the redline.

I did miss 2nd gear 2 times tuesday , but I think it is the addition of my suicide on the right that slows shifting at speed , I never miss a gear unless I am roddin it hard.

New seal around the sprocket and some more gear lube and the Sporty should be ready to ride to the Mowdy Gra rally tomorrow. The OL is pulling the trailer with the crews stuff. I hope I don't need it. It's only 56 miles but I plan on riding another 100-150 while there this weekend. Wish me luck.

 ;D  Me thinks it is time for another good ride on the parkway tomorrow . Guess I will be goin alone this time , everyone else is not liking the rain . Haven't decided on whether to go North or south yet , I think maby south then across the Smokies into Cherokee , or maby hit the dragon at deals gap again.

May go north and check out old 58 up to Roanoke Va , could make a run to Middlesborough Kentucky . West Va is just up the road , take 81 N to 77 and hook a left or right goes into Nc.

Guess me and the old wing will just have to see what it feels like in the morning.

I came back from the May Daze rally in OKC and was wore out. Stayed up too late and got up too early. Dang rain hit just as I was getting there so I didn't drown riding in. HAd a bud with a rv and he put me and the OL up for the weekend. Solid mudhole but the party went on. All this rain is as bad as the cold was about kicking the riding in the head. Come on weather 13 straight SAturdays of rain here in Ok is enough.

 ;DHave the family coming in for Memorial day this Friday. Florida, west va , Georgia Va Tennessee, and a few other points . Will ride most of this weekend and Monday. I also have a work ride planned for next weekend going to Cumberland Falls in Kentucky.
Looks like the tune on the old wing may be in the nick of time.

Hey D&H.... Same here with the rain in Illinois. (At least yours put the fires out.)
No corn in yet. Been mowing twice a week - both places. No good rides, only short hops and back and forth to work on the dry days. Water still way too high and wild to fish. OLs been working 10s and she aint happy about that. Put polished rotors and chrome calipers on her Springer this past weekend, and since the wheels were off, good time to pack the bearings. Well, when I saw what kind of shape those bearings were in, I about crapped a ring and jumped through it!!! Man, they were ugly - almost ashmed to tell you that. Guess we should have checked them right away when we bought the bike. Took for granted that they had been taken care of like the rest of it. Also, lock nut on fornt axle had no "lock" left in it - could have broken it loose with pliers. Now replaced, re shimmed the end play and all is well, but this really rattled me. Will be checking and re packing every winter on both bikes from now on. Hell of it is, that they both felt good - had no way of knowing how bad they were without taking it apart. You boys might want to keep that in mind.  This winter, will be replacing the neck bearngs, swing arm bushings and rebuild the rockers too - weather they need it or not.
   No kinds of plans yet, other than going out to the meet at Davenport fairgrounds, pitching the tent, and staying for the whole thing, and this coming weekend, will ride over to the home town, and go to the services at the cemetary. In the meantime, we'll take what we can get I guess.
   As always, hoping this finds everyone well, and ride careful;
                                                                     Respect;
                                                                                   D.B.

I'm just glad to hear you found it instead of telling about a trip gone to crap with yall stuck on the side of the road. I am getting the ironhead together this week and putting her up for adooption. The OL is tired of waiting on it to run to take a ride so she bought me a new Dyna on the condition I sell the sporty. I said honey I sure luv that ironhead "wheres the for sale sign" ;D   I pick it up the 30th.

This monday I'm taking my WWII marine dad to the memorial. Fewer and fewer of them every year.

I am still on the prowl for a newer Goldwing . Mine has 55000 plus on the clock and has never been apart. Runnin a 32-36 weber on it and it needs a better intake fabbed up to run better . Runnin hi and low at idle . Seems to be sucking air.   I looked at one this evening with 90 plus grand on it . May go back and listen to it run . Rough old bike but if the engin trannie is good it would be good for a parts bike . If mine ever needs anything. I would like to find a 1500 6 for a decent price , missed one 3 weeks ago with over 177000 on it , never been apart and ran as good as new. Needed all 3 rotors for the brakes it had just about cut through them from all the miles . It was a early 90's year. I could have captured it for 15 clams or less. >:(  Just didn't hear about it in time , done sold.
