I picked the Dyna up the 22nd instead of the 30th. All it needed when I went in to do the paper work  was the luggage rack so they are going to mail it to me. I have decided that the Sportster is going to stay home also and the OL was cool with it since she figured I would back out anyway

For what they will give you for a trade in you're better off selling it yourself or keeping it. I regret trading in my '79 sporty, even though I really liked the electraglide I got.

I didn't even consider trading it in. I will sell it to an individual if I sell it all. My wrench wants to keep messin with it for now anyway.

     Figured all along you were gonna keep the old bike, and glad to hear you did D&H. Seems you said you bought it in a pile, and put it back together - so you know it inside and out.  Always good to have something to tinker with.
     Also sounds like OL is super cool. (She'd miss it too.)
     Out riding yesterday, and see skydivers coming down - so we start zig zagging around until we found the airport. Stopped to watch for a while - talked to some of these folks. Short story shorter, looked at OL, she looked back and says "When we gonna try it?"  So, we're gonna do it -- aint gettin' any younger, and between the two of us, we've just about tried it all. Both really lit up and can't wait. (Instructors told us it's safer than motorcycles-- not so sure about that though.) Bet some of you guys have jumped before - got to be a hell of a rush. Tell us about it.
     Up early, got a batch of ribs rubbed down and ready for the smoker. Will look the bikes over, and head on out to the services. Kids are coming over this afternoon - then the bikes get parked, and Son in law and me start cooking and go to work on a case of long necks.
   Wishing you  a fine Memerial Day, and a THANKYOU to all the veterans;
                                                                 Respect

The weather has been great for riding and I have tried to ride almost every day to work. But I have been instructing a course at the local Tech Center all week and getting done at 10 to 10:15 so the long rides are out in the evenings. I marry the youngest son off tomorrow then I fly to Cozumel for a Kenny Chesney type of beach vacation.  Need it but I have to leave the rides at home. Damn I would luv to ride around that island hitting the bars and the beaches.

Ola amigos , just got back from Cozumel and right now WORK is the worst four letter word in my vocabulary. The weather was great, the drinks were free and the party never ended. I have been going for years and the food is only so so but it's all you can eat. First thing I noticed when I got into the cab was that Cozumel has a helmet law now. No eye protection but they all have these little jockey looking helmets. Here they come a family of four on a 125 scooter all wearing these little helmets. They have H/D sporsters for rent but they wanted  $125 a day to rent them. I said to heck with that, anyway we usually were not safe to or legal to ride one after 10:30 in the morning. If you think the cages are tough in the states take a spin down there. If you get honked at from behind you better get over somewhere because a cab is going around, to hell with the right away.  The crowd is half or less from the past years with the economy and swine flu scare. For once the vendors would really deal because there was no crowd. Got everything at least half price from asking. Good quality heavy t-shirts  5-6 dollars and the Cozumel H/D shirts are a cool design.

  Things have been pretty somber around here...... Lost the dog last month - Had her for what seems like forever. Vets couldn't say for sure what happened except that it came quick, and was bad, and that they couldn't do much...... "Best to put her to sleep".  Certainly some of you have been there.
  Been putting a lot of miles on the bikes, and haven't had any problems other than the new polished rotors singing.... need to get some softer pads and put a saw kerf across them. Will get around to it one of these days. Not doing much at the bike shop lately either. Coming straight home after work. Have a chainsaw carving job lined up close to the house and can't seem to get started on that either.
   We did finally get back at it on the grandson's little rifle - Checkering it now and having a bad time. Went 24 lines per inch in keeping with the size of it. Too fine for Claro walnut - fuzzing out and a bitch to get any kind of consistency. All in all though, looking good.
     Haven't heard much out of you guys, and wondering how and what you all are doing. Guess most of us are out on the bikes rather than sitting at the computers. That's a good thing.
                             As always, hoping this finds everyone well, and be careful;
                                                                                        D.B.
How's it going with the new Dyna D&H??

I have been doing a lot of riding, too hot to sit still. We are doing a 200 mile poker run Saturday to benefit a friend of mine that died monday. The Dyna is great but I still miss my rattler. It needs a little attention but time has been limited for it. I like the rifle from what I can see on the picture. Do you know the wood carver that makes Sparks every year for the June rally. They call him Woody  is the only name I know. He chainsaws the heck out of everything all week and camps next to the group we associate with. Sorry about the dog they are like your kids sometime.

Where is all the Biker trash? I'm in Pontiac, Illinois! I have a stripped out oil drain plug on my Wide Glide and no one in town has a helicoil kit for 1/2"x20/tpi, so I'm waiting for one to come in?

Nah, don't know him D&H, but would like to meet him. Plenty of carvers all over the country. Many folks try it, but few stick with it long enough to get good. When we carved at the Toy Run's it was always a great time and good people - doing a week long ralley would be awsome. (not sure if Mamacita and me would hold up for the whole week though). Glad you made friends with the new bike.
    S.B.--  Pontiac huh? If you get a chance stop in at Grays Garage, and I'll bet one of the mechanics will have the Heli-coil kit and insert you need. Won't swear to it, but HD may sell a plug that's just a nick oversized, and self tapping.  Closest dealer to you would be Ottawa???  Good luck.
   Ditchdigger - Been down there in a truck -- Hope to be lucky enough to see it again on a bike someday.

Ditchdigger where do you nest in SE Ok, anywhere near ADA. Buddy of mine called from Taos yesterday after going thru Eaglesnest and it was 42 there and he was freezing before he put on the leathers and face mask but luving it. I like the Durango area and have bowhunted the Hesperus area. Plenty of bear, elk and deer there. Sure have to watch the wildlife on those highways.

Dearanhog,I live in Durant Ok. on Lake Texoma.It was 104 dgs. when we got back here,and was miserable. That enchanted circle around Eagle nest,Red River,Taos,and Angel Fire sure is a nice ride. Everything from long sweepers to some real twisty's. I'm really impressed with the Road Glide for now.   Digger

Speaking of where is all the biker trash. Dang Atllaw you sure clean up good on your avatar. I had to clean up recently to testify on one of my cases from 2005. They seem to always pull you back in even after 2 1/2 years.

Tell me about it!  As long as it takes to get some of these cases to trial they ain't no way of tellin where the officer may be!    :(  It's good to know you finish up your cases though.  Last time I tried to get a retired officer to court he said he's come if the county paid his transportation costs from Colorado and put him up in a (5 star) hotel...  ::)

Much as I hate it I'm probably gonna have to clean up for good here sometime in the next few months...  :(  This fast livin' and hard ridin' is getting tough at my age!   :-[   Not to mention the fact that it seems like every time I get on my bike some cell phone talking female tries to kill me...  >:(  guess I'm getting shakey in my old age...  :'(
