Has anyone else heard this?

Last weekend I was at my local Gander Mountain looking at the new .357 sb1. I liked it so the other day I called them to see if it was still there. It had sold and the sales person said they would not be getting anymore NEF was discontinuing it. I just blew this off as if they didn't know what they were talking about. So i went to my local gun shop. Today he called me and said he was having a hard time locating one. His suppliers are sold out and they told him that NEF is dicontinuing them as they were not as big a seller as they hoped last year.... He may have found one in Kansas, but not sure the guy has not called back to let him know?

The SB2 357mag was discontinued, but the SB1 357 is still available both as a separate rifle and in the combo with a 20ga slug barrel, they may be in short supply tho due to H&R being out of 357mag barrels.

Dunno, no one's done one yet and reported on it, but it's been discussed about a hundred a few times in the last few weeks, look back a page or three and you'll find the discussions.

The FFL gunsmith that I have used in the past told me that he cannot get any NEF products at this time. I indicated that maybe Remington is only selling H&R branded products now, and that could be the fly in the ointment that is causing some confusion. He said he would check into it and get back to me.

Are these products now only available as H&R? Could this be the discrepancy in the mixed messages we are sometimes receiving?

You may be right about the confusion as I've found a gun shop website that shows Harrington and Richardson guns which are mostly the ultra's with the laminated stocks, and also the varmint, and the .357 is there, and then They have the New England Firearms as seperate and they consist of the reg. and composite stocked .223's and all the other high pressure barreled guns as well as the 45-70's.

I thought it was odd that they listed them under different brand names, but whatever the method of their madness is, that could be where the problem or at least part of it originates from.

That could very well be part of the confusion, NEF is not very present on the H&R website, about the only place it's listed is on the Repair page, and on the shotgun menu. In the last couple years, a lot of the new frames have been marked Harrington & Richardson as opposed to New England Firearms, even Handi-Rifles, that's been the topic of discussion a time or two.
