Judge timing issue
« on: January 09, 2009, 02:03:29 PM »
O.K. guys, a friend of mine has a judge and it is really doing well for him, however his sister bought one, and is having lead shaved quite regularly.
should she send it back to taurus for warranty work, or take it to a local smith and get it back much quicker?
I personally have a Raging Bull in .45 Colt, and could not be happier with it. Except for some smaller grips. maybe the 444 grips will interchange since mine is not the 45/454 model?
 Thanks guys
 John

I also had this quandary. I finally decided to find a gunshop/gunsmith who would work on Taurus guns.
The posts indicate that there is a 2 and a half month waiting period for getting the gun back from Taurus, and when received  the problem was not fixed. The gunsmith at Gander Mountain will not work on Taurus revolvers because there are "too many problems with them".  I would rather have a reputable gunsmith work on them and void the wrranty than have an incompetent/unresponsive cheap company take responsibility for guaranteeing the quality.

Lead shaving?  You sure he didn't get it from ruger?   ;D

Last time I sent a taurus back it took just over a month.  Not two and a half months.  Send it back, they should fix it.

Well fellows this thread seals it for me. I was thinking about getting a judge but I think I will reconsider that Idea.

I had a Model 29 S&W for over thirty years and never did anything to it but shot it and cleaned it. There seems to be too much BS with this Taurus outfit and their product is not worth a damn from what I read here and other threads.
