Shikari - I want one but what is considered a "Fair" price?
« on: January 10, 2009, 09:18:50 AM »
I have decided that I want to get a Shikari in 45-70.  There is a method to this maddness  :) as I understand they are great cast bullet shooters and as I use only Black Powder sticking to Trapdoor Loads is more than 'right up my alley' ;).

Currently there are a couple listed  BUT....I have zero clue ::) as to the  "REAL" relative value of these rifles and what would be considered as being too high a price to pay assuming the rifle was in excelland condition.  In short + what is fair market value????

Yes beauty  ::)(and in this case) desire is in the eye (wallet ;D) of the beholder but frankly what is a reasonable price for one in good to excellant condition. AND OF COURSE ANYONE GOT ONE THEY'D LIKE TO PART WITH???? ;D Thanks.

Frankly - - - yes.  Its got some obvious "beauty" marks.......but still.......  I really do want one and THAT makes for bad decisions doesn't it  ;D ;D ;D......I needed to be more objective.......(good luck ::))....I saw and Bid on that rifle as well as the second one you posted but am trying to stay in reasonable $$$.  My big problem is where I live NO BODY has these for sale anywhere.......go figure the damn things were made not 60 miles from here ;D ;D

FWIW, my local shop has had one for over a year priced at $199, I look at it every time I go in, but it's not in the best of shape, so I've never made an offer on it, but those on GB look to be in real nice shape.  ;)

Good luck!

Jim most of the ones I have seen have went for around $250-$300 but I have seen them go for as much as $400 before.I got lucky on finding mine for $199 and judging by the pics of the ones on Gunbroker mine is in a little better shape.I think the true question is How bad to yyou really want one and much are you really willing to pay for it? ;D

The price on the first one listed seems pretty reasonable if it don't go crazy at the end of bidding.
The second one seems a little expensive.
