could we lobby a distributor?
« on: January 10, 2009, 12:12:50 PM »
I would really like to see a .35 Remington Handi. Do you think if say, a group of folks like us lobbied a distributor we could have the a .35 made even if it was only a run of 500 rifles?

Only if distributors are willing to order that many, that's why it was canceled, not enough distributors interested in ordering sufficient quantities of them for H&R to make em.  :-\

Count me in for one, the more I use the 35, the more I like it.  Tim, did you forget me for Christmas?  You posted a picture of my "gift" in another thread. ;D  Your 35 looks sweet.  Color me GREEN.  DP

If you really need a .35 fix, you could just order a .357 mag, and ream it out to maximum, and go that route which would be the next best thing, or do like Tim and just go all out!
My culled down Handi's are the 45-70, and then I have a few others to keep it company...357 Mag/Max. .45 LC/.454 Casull Carbine, .243 Ultra, and 20 gauge Tracker II.

Got 3 of the 357 barrels.  Have 300 pieces of brass and just scored 50 rounds of loaded Max with plastic box today.  Load is 21.7g H-110 under 158g Hornady FPXTP.  They were priced $35 and I got out the door for $25.  One of my favorite 'Candy Stores' cause he will deal with me like that. ;D  DP

Quick,
Would it be feasible for someone (Wayne York) to do a run of say 10 (35 Remington) barrels from some identical donor barrel supplied by us at maybe a cheaper rate if he saves any time doing multiples at once?  Someone would have to collect the 10 barrels and mail them to him at the same time.  I don't know the mechanical process of Wayne doing something like this, or if it would save him anything to give a different price.  Just a thought.  GrampaMike

I would think the setup for each barrel on the lathe would be just as time consuming for multiple barrels, but I'll ask him just out of curiosity if our resident machinist Larry doesn't chime in.  ;)
