Personally I like high polish blue steel, I have several stainless handguns and a few rifles but even after all these years I still prefere the blue steel, when browning started putting the camo finish on their 22 handgun I thought that was one of the cheapest looking things in the show case, and I had just given my son one in blue steel and wished he thought as much abt. it as I did giving it.   Jim

Lloyd,

I used to get excited by the hook frames used by Safari arms, now Olympic Arms.......... I even bought a Caspian hook frame and built a great gun on it. A few years later, I bought another standard Caspian frame, and swapped it out, selling the hook.......... I guess I out grew it...............Hook frames, now?.........Not interested.
As far as the Case Colored 1911's go, ........Again,...... Not  interested,......However, some years ago, Calvert Foster of Caspian Arms did a Damascus 1911 that did catch my eye.........that was nice.

I guess it's Blued steel and Walnut, or Pachmeyers for me.

Wow! Gotta say, that kind of rings my bell! I could for sure find a place for something like that!! There would be a lot of envious looks when I whip it out to "load and make ready" at the next match!!!!!!!!!!!

SOME, good prices.
I wonder about the frames and slides and who makes them and how.
I am not a great fan of Smith & Alexander--but that is personal.
Thanks for the link. I enjoyed.

Having the whole gun CCH is a bit much, but I think if you had the slide CCH and the frame a high lustre blue would be nice.  Interesting concept for a 1911.

I would have to agree with this. The whole gun is a bit much. I would like the two tone he talked of. I am also very interested in seeing the damascus version tomray mentioned.

I'm not that 45 literate, what's a hook frame?

I  have to agree with that too. Id bet a blued frame with a cased top and a set of nice walunt grips would look great.

Or the other way around, frame CCH and the slide blue.. Anyone good at Photoshop here?
