Hey Tim,
is there any way to do a poll about a 35 something, either a 35 Rem or wheelen for us guys that hunt in Mississippi? I am sure that there would be plenty of others interested as well. Especially since we apairantly seem to have the ear of Remington now.
thanks,
Tuna

I would be interested in one with a 24" bull barrel, as well as a 6.8 SPC.

I would buy a complete rifle but wouldn't buy one as an accessory barrel so I had to vote no.

Tim, as long as you have the ear of the folks at NEF H&R/Remington, can you make the suggestion they set up a sort of custom shop.  It really wouldn't be any different from what they have now with the accessory barrel program, but instead of just barrels on hand, they would also have SB2 receivers.  I understand it is hard to make a run of a rifle like the 17 Rem Fireball, but if they had something like this, I could call up, get a barrel (one that is not on a production rifle), and have it shipped to my FFL for transfer and pick-up.  That would allow those of us that would like to order an accessory barrel as a complete rifle to just do it.

If they wanted to extend it, I would also like to see the ability to order sets.  Say I want something like the Rossi Trifecta or the NEF matched set, but I really want 30-06, 17HMR, and .410 (or some other oddball combo), I could call up, order the base 30-06, have them add the accessory barrels, and ship to my FFL for transfer.

It would seem they have most of this type of a setup in place with the barrel accessory program, all the tracking, shipping, ordering, etc is there.  Only thing really missing is the ability to get the receivers and complete rifles.  This could also keep their distributors happy, don't offer the first option on any barrel that is offered from a distributor, and if it is a big issue, only offer the second through a distributor, but make it easy.

Anyway, that is my harebrained idea for the day.

The custom shop topic has already been breeched, Remington has one and is considering adding H&R services, but it won't be soon. But this thread isn't for discussion of that, leave it for the wish list in the FAQs and Help sticky.

I probably wouldn't order a 17 fireball, but I would definately buy a 22 fireball. Either a barrel or new rifle.
I hope there is enough demand and that they do bring out the 17 for you guys that want one.

So if they do end up making the 17 fireball, What barrel length would you want? Personally i would want a  22-24 inch standard contour barrel.

Little late to the party, but I voted yes. I would like to see it offered and I know they are trying to churn up the fire for this caliber and a smart way would be with a handi offering. The 6.8 SPC sounds cool too, but thats for another topic I suppose.

I really like the Custom Shop idea, just as soon as they return the firearms laws to 1965 levels. Then Remington can take an unchambered barrel off the shelf, ream it to .221 Fireball, mount it on a frame and mail it to me.
I like the idea of a .17 Fireball/Mach IV (certainly like it better than .17 Remington), would probably order one if I had a frame in the shop. Last time I had a frame in Gardner I had them put eight barrels on it, so I probably won't be doing it again any time soon.

I just voted "yes" for a barrel and I'm the Contender guy.  But I do have a frame ready to go.  Actually I've been wanting to send it in for a .357 and 30/30 barrel anyway.  I had thought about getting another .17HMR for my Spotster and switching it to my centerfire frame w/ a rechamber to .17AH, but the two frames aren't even close. :( Oh, Well, I'm in.  Walt  ;D

Hornets are gone north of the border, but they're still available as a 1:9" accessory barrel.

The 17HMR is lots of fun to shoot, but being a rimfire, it's beginning to get pricey.  A reloadable centerfire is a logical extension.  Even a .20 or the original .22 fireball would seem excellent additions.

Yes I would buy a barrel, but I would much rather get a whole gun.  A 17 Rem Fireball is next on my wish list.  Rog

I'd have to buy a gun, just to send back to have the barrel fit to it.  Then ditch the original barrel.  I have been wanting a .17 Rem Fireball.

Want to use it to take a, never mind you guys would say I'm crazy.  I'd use my .17 HMR but RF is Illegal for Big Game in Alaska.

I just got an update on this barrel project, doesn't look good, maybe if a distributor would special order a run it might happen, but it's definitely not gonna happen this year as an accessory barrel.  :'(

That is bad news; I was looking forward to trying it out.  I have wanted a .17 CF for some time, and this would have been a great addition.
