I heard in a previous post by someone that there are two sides to the coin. This I would agree with, but it is the writer of the post that failed to recognize that although there are two sides, IT IS THE "SAME COIN".
I served my country for 20 years as a police officer. Protecting people and their Constitutional Rights, property and their right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. There are many ways in which to serve ones country, in addition to the military. Both my sons served, one still is with 3 combat tours.
What I learned in my service was not to blindly follow, bad leadership.
The Iraq war is ending just as I, and others predicted. POLITICAL IDEALOGICAL PROTOCAL CHANGE FOLLOWING ELECTION, and now a PULL OUT. 4,000 plus kia's and Lord only knows how many wounded, and what was accomplished? NOTHING! Politics as usual.
"POLICE ACTIONS" are what the U.S. government has evolved into, along with "nation building". This theology is why we have not won a war since WWII.
Our brave military is being GROSSLY MIS-USED, and lives are being WASTED TO MAKE A POINT to some petty third world country. Of course we can whip Iraq, but why, and at what cost?
We rail about the "Evil Saddam" needed to be taken out, while our own corrupt government, with our tax dollar and Planned Parenthood, has "TAKEN OUT" 50,000,000 innocent babies and still counting since 1973. Many of these babies were BUTCHERED while the Republicans were in the majority in the house and senate, and in the white house.
Republican-Democrat! They all are the same. Patriotism is loving ones country, and recognizing a government that is destroying it, and it's Constitution. Not blindly following bad leadership.
Name calling people whom recognize bad leadership is not conducive to unity. Under the leadership of  a very SOCIALIST BUSH, and the now MARXIS OBAMA, this country is going to hell in a hand basket, and some here are still following BAD LEADERSHIP and defending it blaming it on one party when it is indeed BOTH PARTIES!

What left wingers? Am I missing something here? I haven't seen anyone here "for" Obama and company. 
As for the military draft, I don't think it's a good idea at all, and as for Pakistan, I have in past posts and threads predicted that it will be our next EXPANSION of WAR. The Rand Corp. has been lobbying the Pentagon for MONTHS to EXPAND the war into a larger scale to save their investments via the economy.
Bush was bombing them and at this writing Obama is allowing the bombing via drones to continue. Watch and learn here. It WILL happen. Our government has NOT learned it's lessons, nor has it ceased it's goals of expanding ITSELF at our expense, and demise.
Left wingers? How about politically BLIND wingers? Some here need to educate themselves as to what is "actually going on" in adverse to what they "want and believe" is going on.
Labeling others, is not the key. Education to FACTS is the key. Some day one might need the help of a neighbor whom has been labeled when in fact was paying closer attention than the one whom was labeling and name calling.

At the very top is libertarianism, it is the least amount of government possible, above that would be anarchy. Imagine that taxes and socialism would be the lowest on top and greatest on the bottom. The furthur you go down on the chart regardless of which way you slant it is increasing in government authority and taxation.

if  we  need a draft  then soldiers are  not paid enough

i  think  to give the government  the right  to seize  its  citizens  ia as bad as it can get

worse  than  any  tax  where  they just take  back  money  they printed

yes  it would be  best  for  most kids  but still  wrong

maybe triple the soldiers  pay as part of the stemulus package
