OK, I got it.
I used the pictures that 'dbriannelson' posted and extrapolated them to the new trigger assembly. Turns out, that inside the trigger is a space where the spring will lay, and there's a perforation at the bottom of this recess that the short peg of the spring goes into. The hole for the spring is looks more like a milling mistake than an intentional hole, but I guess it works.
So, with a little patience and a bit of profanity, it's back together, complete with some smoothed internal parts and a new spring kit.
So, there's a happy ending to this little tale. I still prefer to work in the Ruger actions though.
