Poll: 35 Remington Accessory Barrel ?
« on: January 13, 2009, 05:03:23 PM »
Although Remington has already considered a .35 Rem rifle that didn't get off the ground due to lack of distributor interest, how about just an accessory barrel? Please be sure to vote, not just post a reply.  ;)

Never was a more fitting nickname given. You are truley quick.  thanks for gettng this going so quickly.

As some of you know, any centerfire 35 cal and over is leagal in Mississippi's primitive arms season. I would love to have one. Actually the 45-70 is great but the 35 Rem would give me a great excuse for something new. ;D

The ultimate answer is to offer unchambered barrels.  Failing that, for legal reasons, barrels chambered in say 30 Carbine, 32 H&R, 45 ACP, 9 mm Auto etc would let others chamber them in whatever they want and still satisify the lawyers.  How about a .25-20 which could go to a .25-06 or a Weatherby?  Larry

If I was going to go with a .35 and wanted more than the .357 Max. I think I'd want to go all the way to a .35 Whelen. Maybe they could work the bugs out of that one this time around.

I'm all in for one. I've had my eye on a Marlin 35 Rem 336CS. But the price is to high for a new condition / used lever at $400. I can buy a new one for $430.

You have to realize the factories REALLY DON'T LIKE folks rechambering and otherwise altering barrels in that manner. To do things that would seemingly encourage it puts them in a worse position relative to law suits when things go wrong and someone wants to sue them for a few million bucks cuz they did something stupid.

I voted no what with the 357 30-40Imp Krag and the 30.06ultra comp I just can't see paying the accessory bbl fees don't mean I wouldn't try and secure one some other way though. Kurt

Also I highly doubt they... Remington would consider the Whelen over thier own caliber.

I would prefer a Whelan, but I have been considering a .35 rechamber. so I might get one.

BTW I have begin to believe in the one rifle one frame style, Just more practical for me.

Are you listening Remington or whoever you are.

What Spanky said -- in a heartbeat!! I already have a Max, but .35 Rem brass is common, uses common powders, and is, like the Max, well-adapted to cast bullets. A slightly faster rifling twist would allow me to use my Lyman 245-grain roundnose mold. That bullet was designed for the old .35 WCF, which is rimmed and would be an even better bet for the Handi, but brass is a problem. .35 Rem could still push the big old Lyman along at a respectable clip, making an even better cast bullet deer rifle than the Max.

I voted "yes". I think it would fit in very nice with my collection of barrels. I have a 357 Max - but the 35 Remington would still be nice. I would like it even better if it had a fast twist rate (1-14 or so) and Ballard type rifling for heavy hard cast bullets.

I'd love to see a 35 Rem, especially in a compact Superlight contour.
That would be perfect for banging around all day in the New England brush.

Thanks GB I did not know that. Now I gotta look in my books to check them both out . Still don't think I need to try and squeezz it into my .30 line up...but then once it becomes a got to have caliber I turn to mush. Kurt
