I'd like to have one, but I don't think I can justify it.  I already have 12 deer rifles in various calibers, not including slug guns, and I KNOW I'm going to do a Handi 357 Max.  With a 15 day rifle season, I seldom get to use most of them for deer.  On the other hand, it might be unlucky to stop at 13!!

Years ago, as a kid in Maine, I was with a friend when he took a big doe with a Marlin 336 in .35.  It was the first deer kill I ever witnessed and I was impressed.  The shot took half her head off and it seemed the entire deer rotated around the POI.  Since then, I've wanted one, but never got around to doing it.

I voted yes .    It's one caliber I've always had an interest in but never owned .It would make a fine Handi rifle. It would probably become as popular as the 30-30, and 45-70.

I am with Saloon Slug on this one...Iron sights , and a dovetail for a good front sight.  You've never really had a brush gun, until you've hunted with a .35Rem......

I already voted yes but wanted to agree with SS.  I would like to see iron sights too, but beggers cant be choosers.  Could have that work done latter.  This was my first  deer hunting rifle.  At age 12 and a Remmy 760.  That poor button buck.  Never knew what hit em.  Funny thing is I forgot about it because that is the only year I used it.  That was Mom's gun, then Dad gave me his 760 in 270 the next year.

You can always ask for sights on the order form, H&R Gardner installed sights on any scope base mounted accessory barrel when asked, they charged $47 extra, I suspect Ilion will too, but I would expect them to cost more than Gardner charged.

I would only be interested in this chambering to ream the barrel to the 35 Whelen ..

A 35Rem would be ok I guess, and I see it would have a following. But I would rather see the 35 Whelen back if I had a choice.

I mean the rimmed (semi-rimmed?)version of the 358, offered decades ago in the Win. Model 94 Big Bore and Marlin 336....I think.

Make your 35 Rem bress from 30-40 Krag brass, make a rim cut on the barrel, modify the extractor...rimmed 35 Remington...

Was going to get on here two weeks ago to tell you folks; they ARE OFFERING A .35 Rem this year!  Problem is, I saw it at one of the wholesalers at work, but can't remember which one it is now at home.  It is a distributer's exclusive.  I will dig it up at work and let you know which wholesaler will have it.

Old news, they were going to build it as a rifle but it was canceled last year due to lack of distributor interest and not scheduled for production in 2009, hence this poll to try to get it as an accessory barrel.

Old news?  Sorry, just saw it on the RSR website as an exclusive.

As I said, it was planned last year, some dealers like AbleAmmo even had it listed, but out of stock, but none were ever produced....yet.  I just checked RSR, they don't list it under H&R, NEF or in their exclusives. Please post a link to where you saw it.

Tim,

Will see what I can do about a link when I get back to work on Sunday.  Only saw it on the computer at work when signed in to their website(FFL Dealer).

I think that a .358 Winchester   barrel  would make more sense, than either a 35 rem or whelen. A .356 Win would be nice as it's a rimmed number , and we know how NEF extraction issues make rimmed cartridges more attractive.  A barrel in .338 Fed or the new .338 Marlin would make me happy.
