Just a silly question
« on: January 15, 2009, 10:24:47 AM »
Has anyone purchased a New Handi that says it was made by the New H&R. You know with something like made in Ilon, Ny or Where ever the home office is now.
Or are they just running through the inventory of old parts.
And will soon say Made in China.

No one has yet reported an Ilion NY marked frame, just those with the new serial number prefix CBA for SB2 and CAC for SB1s which started in May 2008 at Gardner. H&R rifles will never be made in China unless laws change, shotguns only, US law does not allow rifles to come from China, this info came from Remington.

There's a way they can get around that law of not being able to sell rifles made in China.

They could just import them as tomato stakes.

I'd buy a 45/70 tomato stake in a heartbeat.
My culled down Handi's are the 45-70, and then I have a few others to keep it company...357 Mag/Max. .45 LC/.454 Casull Carbine, .243 Ultra, and 20 gauge Tracker II.

A local shop has a new .30-30 that has a Remington style recoil pad.  I haven't looked at the receiver to see how it's marked.

Sure a lot of Chinese SKS rifles around for it to be illegal to sell Chinese made rifles. Not to mention the chinese made copies of the Browning .22 semiauto. Me thinks some how there are a bunch of exceptions if there is in fact such a rule as no china made rifles.  ???

Bill, correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't there a bunch of M-16 clones coming out of China too?

Dunno about that but have seen and held in my hand the two I mentioned. Owned both in fact.

I have a Norinco .22 Mauser clone that was my son's... JW-15, I think.
I believe Chinese rifles were banned around '94 so any around were imported previously.
