As far as affection in my respect of Glocks, I don't feel anything as you described either. A Glock is likened to a can opener. It isn't pretty but, if you are hungry it is invaluable.
The thing with Glock is that everyone wants it to be TOOOO different. A revolver is a revolver regardless of whom built it, whether it be Smith, Colt, or Ruger. Yes the design is some what different, but the concept is basically the same.
This is true also with an auto loader. If a 1911 will shoot a 45acp, reloaded lead bullet, it is, or should be, OBVIOUS, that a Glock will also. I suppose it is a mystery to some, and these folks seem to need it (the Glock) to be different. They feed upon the unsubstantiated RUMOR MILL. With the exception of the double stack magazine feed, and the absence of a hammer, but rather a striker instead, they are the same.
Even their feeding is much the same as a good Browning Hi-Power. A spade, is a spade, is a spade after all.
