Author Topic: I've got a sears and robuck 105-20 16 ga bolt action Shotgun (Read 1465 times)

I bought this gun for my son-in-law to use hunting this year, Its in very good condition bright bore the bluing is 95% looks like someone re-did the finish on the stock but it was a good job. After allot of internet research I have discovered it was made by Harrington & Richardson around the 1940's it across referents to a Harrington&Richardson model 120. It does not have any serial numbers nor does it have any marking for what choke it has on it. Anybody got any idea what choke is on this gun

Yea that's the gun, and looking at the pic Tim posted maybe the stock wasn't refinished. The finish looks just like the one in the pic. But still no way to tell what choke is on this gun. Guess we will do the ole 40 yard test and see how it patterns

Try dropping a dime thru the barrel, if it won't pass thru it's a full choke. I must remember to put brain in gear before engageing mouth. The dime in the bore only works for 12 ga guns. Sorry for posting the wrong info.

That's a great old gun. I have a 16ga mossy bolt with a poly choke that is a great shooter. Dave we should get together for a 16ga bolt gun hunt.

Somewhere in the rollstamped area it says 16ga. If "choke" is stamped in this area it means full choke in modern parlance. Full choke was a standard item in that era, and anything different was half choke or cylinder stamped. Modern cheap guns are usually found as full choke models as well.

I just saw one of these last week that a friend has virtually identical to the pic...but it was a Stevens 105 I thought it said. Kurt

The first real gun I bought for myself was a 16 gauge bolt. And as an aside, I have always had great luck shooting 16 gauge slugs. Now you guys have done it, I am going to do again what I did when I was about 14-15, save up my money and start looking for an inexpensive shotgun. Then I ended up with a 16 gauge bolt that time but was open to what I could afford, but I wanted anything better than a single shot. Over the years I have grown to like the single shots however this time I have a slightly different quest, another 16 gauge bolt action. I did pass on one at Kittery Trading Post in Maine just before Christmas but money was for other things and other people then. I think I just may be able to squeeze one in very. IF I can find one. Besides, I can always tell my wife it's the collective fault of the guys on Graybeards that I bought it...THANKS!!!....<><....

You know I can get three shots off with my H&R single shot 16 ga faster then I can with the bolt action gun....

My first real gun was also a 16ga bolt action. A used Mossberg 190 with a genuine C-Lect choke. Paid $22 that I earned cutting grass and shovelling snow for neighbors. It was the least expensive shotgun I could find.

I hunted small game with it for years - not to mention terrorizing the local pigeon population and an occasional groundhog, opossum, or whatever.

I have the very same gun but in 12 guage. It IS a full choke. They where not a gun made with frills and otions so it would not be a stretch to assume that the same gun in 16 Guage would be same choke.
