The only "big" rally I've been to is biketoberfest in Daytona.

The only rally I have ever been to was the S&S Motors 50th Anniversary party in LaCrosse Wisconsin last year. Lots of custom bikes. I went to Sturgis last year, 2 weeks before the rally. More interested in touring the Black Hills before the big crowds. Maybe go to the Sturgis rally some day.

I don't usually go to any rallys.  And I understand Myrtle Beach has stopped it's 2 annual rallys.

Been to Sturgis 4 times.......every biker should go once.......don't care if I ever make it back. It was fun, but all the hassles just ain't worth it anymore. Went to the 100th Birthday bash, it too was fun, but doubt iffin I will go to any others. Been to the Branson Rally and many  different state HOG rallies.......mostly as an excuse to ride new areas. We do go to the Tomahawk Open House/Fall Ride every year and find it never grows old. 30,000 bikes in a town of 500 in the picturesque Northwoods of Wisconsin during fall colors.......big enough, but places to eat/sleep and get gas without hassles and being raped. Lots of great riding too.

Here in Oklahoma we have several local rallies but they are ride in and camp rallies not the asphalt rallies. I ride with crew of 10 to 15 and we camp together and it is a mini rally just staying in camp. The biggest is Sparks America north of Shawnee about 20 miles. It's wild biker fun for 10 days in June, they also have a St. Paddy party and Halloween party. The beer is cheap $1 with bands and plenty of vendors. The next is Maydaze in OKC and it is the same, not as big as Sparks but it is fun and has plenty to do. We also go to Winding Creek west if Tecumseh, Mid Summer Thunder on lake Eufaula and Pawhuska in the same. These are located away from the public and if you mind your manners you won't see a cop unless you leave the property. I have been to Hot Springs Ark when they have thier rally but it was pretty laid back compared to the other rallies. I do want to go to the Republic of Texas Rally in Austin. It is huge and is fun. I will skip bike week in Sturgis and go the week before when the crowds are yet to come. My son went thru there last year and said it was great. The vendors were there along with the shops and the party was already going.

Only kind of rally I ever went to was the East coast dirt drags in  Surry Va. I used to go and run in the drags, Its been shut down for bad behavior by certain group. I don't like crowds so Daytona or Sturgis I'll probably never see. The drags are about the biggest crowds I want to put up with. And thats just cause I like to run my bike. 8)

BTW I used to run 900 PRO GAS knobby, and a honda 750SOHC in 750 street knobby, Good fun. The Honda would run mid tens on the asphalt.

Amen!  Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me!   :D  I'm very happy just to ride and party with my brothers.   ;D

I like the biker rallies because you see friends from all over the country and make some new ones every time you go. We camp together, eat together and party till wee hours or sometime not go to bed at all. The big asphalt rallies you walk around see a few vendors go to the bike show then go home or to a motel somewhere. If you do try to twist off a little and party there are always the biker be good boys in uniform you have to look over your shoulder for. Give me the ones out in the country anytime. Several of us have trailers the OL's pull and the rest throw their stuff in and we ride. We set up our camp and are set for the weekend. Like I said there always 10 or more in camp. These are the rallies to try if you want to see what a real biker rallie is like.

I've been to the Thunder Valley Biker Rally in Crandon, WI. a few times, but I went more for the live music rather than the actual rally.  ;)

I've been to Sturgis years ago and more recently Laconia, spent most of our time at Weir's beach. It was 1000 miles accross NY in the rain out there and 1000 miles in the rain back accross. My second son and I met up with my oldest boy in Glaucester Ma. and then rode up to N.H. from there. And of course Hogfest in Milwaukee Wi.

I was 60 last August and have been riding since I was 16 so, I've got a lot of them. I Don't think I'm a normal biker, I don't conform to many people idea of what society's children should be?

Used to hit the one in Cherokee NC . I rode with the GWRRA members some and traveled around with them for a few trips. I would like to go to Daytona this year and may try to make that. Have family close to the area that I can crash with. Would also like to make the Honda hoot this year in Knoxville area , it is only 85 miles away , and I used to keep the Blue ridge P way hot on the 1100 Gold wing when I had it.

S.B. Glad Ya Made It to this forum ;D...actually, I told on you (that you were a biker) in a recent post here. I only beat you here by a couple three weeks and was reluctant to do so because there is only so many minuets in the hour & so many hours in the day to be divided into work, reloading, Coyote hunting, shooting, and other forums to visit here at GBO. This Forum is very worthwhile though and I have enjoyed some good reads.

Oh, My last Rally?...does the Springfield Mile count? (dirt track racing) but it always draws a huge crowd of bikers and there are many of custom scoots to be seen. It is held at the Springfield fairgrounds every year on Memorial day & on Labor day. I missed out in 08' as I was too sick to leave the house cause of that Chemo. Basically the Swing shift had made me a loner although I would group up with others now & again for rides to the Alton area and the scenic route 100 where the Ill & Miss rivers join together.

Randy, actually wify and I are down there every year for this race but, leave before it starts? We help run the DNRs bb gun tent, that day. I keep telling her, we should stick around for the race.

Datona back in '83. Never again. I felt like I was in a sardine can the whole time I was there and I doubt it has gotten any better. Cherokee N.C. a few times. That's a decent run if you get there for the concert and wet T-shirt contest. I've gotten to the point I prefer to ride with a few good friends than hang out in the crowds though.

Good races, you might get your motel early but unfortunately, these people know of those calendar days and have probably increased the rate 2fold. The Itt races (or motocross) starts Fri evening on the track by the new grandstand.
The feature race and name "The Springfield Mile" happens on the one mile dirt track oval where they can get those bikes up to 135mph.
