357 mag load with Imr 4198?
« on: January 16, 2009, 03:58:30 PM »
Has anyone worked up a load with this powder, using the 158 jacketed soft point or the hornady 180 ssp?  I realize it might be to slow, but it is the closes thing I have at this point.  This is for use in a 22" handi rifle.

Ya really should buy some proper powder. Trying to "make do" with powder on hand when it isn't correct for the job at hand seldom leads to satisfactory results.

I have to go with Bill on this one too , pick up a pound of either 2400 or H110 , both will do a great job with proven data to back them up , also both will work well for cast and jacketed bullets .

if  you  can  find reliable  data  let  me  know  i  will make  some  and chrony  them

it  is a rifle  powder  and we  are  talking  a rifle

this would be a wast  of time  for a pistol

I think 4198 in the .357 would be a waste of everything. There are much better powders.
