Price of a NEF HUNTSMAN 50 CAL (SMS-050) with 24" BARREL NEW

Does anyone know what the suggested retail price of a NEF HUNTSMAN 50 CAL (SMS-050) with a 24" BARREL  was?
I understand that they are not being made anymore except the barrel program. When were they discontinued?
I saw one on gunbroker sell recently for $170.00 NIB and have found one at my local Gun Store for $189.00 also NIB.
I have a blued 24" Huntsman barrel only, that I just purchased here and then saw these complete guns and thought it might be a good idea to pick one up since they were discontinued.....Any thoughts???

That is about the price they were going for retail when they were being manufactured.  However since they are no longer being manufactured I would pick one of them up if I wanted one bad enough.  I have heard rumors that Remington may be manufacturing again with some inprovements, but as stated it was a rumor.

If the one on the auction site is really a Huntsman it will require that a dealer be involved as the Huntsman is classified as a firearm. If I were in your situation I would buy the one from the local dealer as it is going to cost you shipping and dealer cost involvement on the auction site one and you will make better relations with the local dealer. I always try to help out the local guy if possible.

Thanks for the info....Yes I plan on buying locally if I buy one. I was just wondering what the suggested retail price was when they were available. Can't find any info on the H&R site...not even an owners manual....

All Huntsman rifles are not considered firearms, just depends on when it was made.  I have a nice 58 cal that is not.  Larry
