Thanks Mc, I for one appreciate your support. We are going to need all the support all our friends, neighbors, and allies from this point on to protect our rights guaranteed under the Second Amendment. They, among other rights we have held so dear, and many brave men and women have shed blood and died for, may soon be coming under assault by left wing liberals and special interest groups. Those fanatic groups, lead by the ilk of biden, pelosi, reid, frank and others may believe they have a friend in high places now. I can only hope this new president of ours uses his God given intelligence and wisdom and does things differently now than he has in the past. I can only hope he hears and sees, and tries to stand for, the will of majority of the people, not the minority liberal groups. However I must tell you my friend, I am concerned and worried, very worried, about the direction our great country may soon be headed. I see Socialism and Marxism close at hand, and I do not like it....<><....:(

I think Second Amendment rights will be a long long way down Obama's list of priorities with what he has on his plate.

As you know, in Canada we mix the left and the right in our centrist party called the 'Liberal Party of Canada'. They borrow from the left and the right. We have been doing this quite successfully since 1867. After seeing the progress since Selma Al. I, and I think most of the world, believe that American's have what it takes politically to solve their problems without trampling on the rights of it's citizens.

My own opinion is that you have little to fear from the left because Americans have too much common sense to let ANY extremist politician succeed for long.

The world is a a better place because of American might and the way they use it. No sensible person wants to see the U.S. diminished in any way. Certainly not me.

Best wishes

That WAS true at one point.   I don't think it no longer is.   That is why many of us are very concerned.

If we want too lay blame or hope on any one person then we are in reality asking for a dictator.
This fiscal fiasco is the footstool of all of us, WE are too blame and we got there/here through greed.
It is a cleansing that was coming and not to be able too see it is a fault of the chronic gambler---trusting in luck.
We may survive, we may collapse but it is on our shoulders.
May God be with us---though I would not say that we deserve His help. We are a sorry lot and without the morals of Jezebel.

Was I the only one that noticed there was no mention of protecting us from "All Enemies, Foreign and Domestic" when he was sworn in today?

Yes Swampy, your so right.

I haven't watched the love fest going on in DC and don't plan on it.

As far as making it a "more perfect union", well, I guess that's one man's opinion.

IMO, we just put in a communist.

I will make every effort not to hear anything he has to say, or look at his face.  I did the same with Slick Willy and Hildabeast.  I have nothing but contempt for them.

I did not watch any of today's fiasco, luckily I had to WORK to make a living, something many of obamas supporters do not do, rather they depend on MY tax money to support them. I believe this is a sad day for the USA, an embarrassing day as well. I can only hope with God's help we can make it through the next sad 4 years without to much discord and dismay. I don't really hold out much hope for the country now. And as far as obama having other things than our second amendment rights to worry about taking away, he does not have to do it himself, or at all for that matter. biden will be a perfect henchman to do it for him, since biden wrote the first so called "assault weapons ban". obama will also most likely get to appoint at least one Supreme Court Justice, and that is where the real fear and problems reside. We as a people and as a country could survive obama, but a screaming liberal Supreme Court justice or two? not likely. Canada is too liberal and too socialist, so also for Australia and England, and France is a bunch of wacko's, so the question is, where to go to escape and live in peace....A very sad day I wish I had never seen happen to our country. My/our country, right or wrong? you bet, my president? That remains to be seen, and it is up to him as to waht the answer will be....<><....:)

Yeah I did notice that.   I went and looked up the text for President and Vice President, and found out the Presidential text is contained within the Constitution.   The VP text has never been laid down specifically, and has evolved over the past two hundred years.   The oath that Biden took is the current version and is different from the President's oath.

Being  from Alberta I am with you MSP Ret on Canada being too Liberal. Often times I am totally embarrassed by our Liberal Prime Ministers and their actions. :-[  Our long gun registry is the perfect example of ridiculous legislation.  Ex prime minister Chretian and the United Nations made land mines around the world illegal.  But I guess the road side bombs that are forever killing our soldiers must be different. Hopefully Obama will work out for yous.  At least he appears intelligent. :-\

Being a Canadian, I am relieved to have a conservative minority Govt in place here. With years of Liberals running and ruining this country we got a break.
For the Liberal member here, I am aware what "Lying Brian" did, considering he was a Quebecois, no wonder. For those of you that are not aware of the Canadian Firearms Act, YOU DON'T WANT SIMILAR.

BTW it was the Liberals with full support of the New Democrats( read Far Left) that this Act came about.

Yes, I also noticed now he never actually repeated most of the other substantial parts of the oath.  If you haven't heard it, it's worth a listen, but I don't know where to find it. I'm sure somebody youtube'd it.

Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

The above phrase is taken directly from Article 2 section 1 of the US Constitution.   I am not sure which President was the first to add "So help me God".

I just listened to the swearing in on a clip and i believe Justice Roberts and Obama said all of the words contained in the Constitution, but said the word "faithfully" out of order.

I couldn't help but think that this saying "faithfully" out of order will come back to bite us.  Anybody remember what the definition of the word "is" is??  Lots of BHO's cabinet members do.

Justice Roberts never liked the President anyway, maybe that is why he messed up the word order  ;D.  Some experts says he should take the oath over again (maybe with another Justice?) but it probablly doesn't matter anyway since he was already technically our President at 12:00 even before the oath was completed at 12:05.

I refused to watch the mass hysteria that was taking place in DC..a mindless mass of lemmings. I have seen in news reports that Osama..er..Obama passed up on the Bible for swearing in ..although he may have had a Koran in his pocket..

I agree with all the foregoing comments...except the liberals..

Pelosi is already beating the drum to disarm, the citizenry..as did Hitler, Stalin, Castro and every tin pot dictator in history...

Justice Roberts and President Obama had a redo of the oath yesterday.  Since they flubbed it up the first time.  Apparently people did notice.

Thanks Mc, I have nothing but respect for the Canadian people, I do disagree with some of their politis. However, their fighting men and women have a long history of brave deeds and sacrifice.

I hope Obama goes at his governing from the center if not our country is going to be in great peril.

Any way the best to you and all in Canada.
