Wild West Happy Trigger Kit
« on: January 21, 2009, 02:27:24 AM »
Is there any disadvantege to replacing my factory trigger with the Wild West Happy Trigger Kit? I am thinking about doing it, but I want to make sure its a superior trigger. Thanks.

It's supposed to be great, but is it worth the money?

I have installed the WW Happy Trigger in 2 Marlins and I love them both.
No down side and it is definately worth the money.
Of course, if you have a local gunsmith that you trust, a trigger
job could give you the same result for less money. But that's
only if you have access to the trusted local smith. For the rest of
us, the Happy Trigger is the way to go. Very easy to install and instant
gratification.

Happy triggers are worth every penny. I also have installed 2 of them and in both cases the rifles shot consistantly tighter groups. I have found zero negatives in replacing these.

One of the best triggers on any of my rifles is a Happy Trigger.

Pricey but no regrets.

Sounds like a good idea.  How much does a happy trigger cost?

They run 80 - 90 bucks. Very awesome addition. Took me 1hr to install.

I was thinking of adding the trigger as well as the large loop lever. Anyone try the lever as well?

I installed a happy trigger and a DRC large loop on my 1895G. I went with the DRC lever because it's smaller in diameter the the Wild West lever.

Whats up with the wild west web site? It seems to be having some complications.  Do they make an oversized lever for lever 444 with pistol grip?
Last time at the range, my 444 trigger pull weight seemed to be inconsistant.  Is that posible or is it just me?  But, a 3 pound pull weight sounds like it is just the ticket.  Im thinking (ouch), that I am going to order the Happy Trigger for my 444 and a Timney for my girlfriends Howa 270.  The Howa's trigger is truly awful.  The rifle groups quite nicely already, so the trigger upgrade should make it a tack driver.  My girlfriend has never been able to hunt before.  Next year, her and her son are gonna get their first deer and/or elk. ;)

Thanks Old Griz. Supposedly the lever works with both the straight stock and the pistol grip stock.  Sure would come in handy.  Although a second shot has not been needed, I have yet to put an elk in its sights.  The purpose for buying this rifle was for a fast acting rifle for elk in the timber.  I believe the oversized loop will definately make first shot and fallow-up shots quicker for this rifle.

Yep they make both styles straight and pistol grip. Be aware that the WWG lever is bigger than the DRC lever so unless you have huge mits the WWG loop may be a little sloppy during quick recycling of the action. Take a look at the DRC levers also. They arn't as big as the WWG and a little cheaper than the WWG.

Well, I just got laid off from my construction job today, so it's going to be a while before I can upgrade my 444.  I think I'll be working another job before next week, but it's going to make me tighten the belt as they say.   8)

Sorry to hear that Sourdough. The plant where my wife an I worked closed just before Christmas. After 25 years of working in one place it's been hard looking for a diffent job.

Thanks Grizz.  Wow, 25 years at the same place?  That is never, ever heard anymore.  Today, a mine plays out faster than that.  So did you get a new job or just retire?  I am still supposedly job attached, but, with this economy, who knows what work is going to be around when the thaw arrives in 2 to 3 months. ???  Anyways, I think I have a job to fall back on.

Sounds like a good Idea youve got there Griz. But watch out, I hear that retirement is a tough J.O.B.  Walleyes, huh?  Never caught one, but I hear they are a hoot. ;D
