well   why  should  we pay for the clinic......that  is a liberal  concept

let the drug tax pay  if  you  like    but  i want to be  left  out  of  the whole  drug  thing ..period

well  if we  outlawed  guns  we would  be more inline with other governments
and since when do forign treaties take president   over the FREEDOMS IN AMERICA

controling THC levels  is not  as cridical as  more dangerous drugs like alcohol
beside it  is a mute point    irrelavent to freedom

if  a theif  is a theif because he is on  drugs
lock  him up for stealing
don't release him to make room for the dope dealer

your  point  about mexicos gun problem  despite  gun  laws  further proves  my point
government  is the drug problem..........not the answer

but  take an  extreem  liberal  aproach
free drugs  to  all
dealers  are  all  out of  busness  first  good  thing
addicts  all  soon die
kids  see addicts  dieing  and  make better  choices
more  room  in  prison for crimes with victims  and  illegal alliens
when drugs are outlawed only out laws will have drugs
DO WHAT EVER IT TAKES TO STOP A DEMOCRAT
OBAMACARE....the biggest tax hike in the  history of mankind
free choice and equality  can't co-exist
AFTER THE LIBYAN COVER-UP... remind any  democrat voters ''they sat and  watched them die''...they  told help to ''stand down''

Without a drug problem the idea of wealfare would be hard to sell . What would people do all day ? It they were drug free and feeling good with a clear mind they would become industrious and find work and live above what wealfare allows . This would be counter productive to the ones wishing to change our way of govt. as a drug free industrious voter would demand better leadership and less control . As any fool can see this just won't work in todays political rush become what our fore fathers left to come to the new world and then run the tyrants off that followed them here who were trying to make them "subjects" all over again .
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

What I have to say is bad. I would have close family that would be dead.
I think the only way to stop illegal drug use and all the cost, crime, murders, ect. is for the government to POISON all the illegal drugs they capture and put them back on the street. The addicts will all die! The experimenters and social users will stop. It will save lives in the long run and will save the life's of innocent victims of crimes by drug users. Its harsh, its terrible, it will never happen but it should.

That's it think of reasons to do nothing.
I think alcohol and tobacco are still legal.
never heard of any one killing some one because he was smoking too much
tobacco
raise the taxes on alcohol in proportion to tobacco that will slow that down
some.
I guess you are one of those that think smoking a little pot NEVER hurt anyone.
You would rather let the druggies go and spend your tax $$$$$ in Africa.

So, to be clear:  You believe more Americans are killed by people who are overly high than by drunk drivers?  Ever heard of second hand smoke?

I never said, "... smoking a little pot NEVER hurt anyone."  I'm an attorney.  I'm defense counsel for the local drug court.  I see the damage drugs do every day.  I also see the damage alcohol does every day.  My point was that your 20 year figure was ridiculous and that it should be compared alongside drugs that are more dangerous, but historically legal, so that we can all see the reality of the "Drug War".

I actually don't understand your last statement.  Why would druggies go to Africa with my tax dollars?  Is Africa the new Amesterdam?

Read what i said spend your tax dollars here for prison instead of sending it to Africa

On the original topic...

It concerns me that this is happening in a neighboring state (Texas shares more border with Mexico than any US state).
With our lacksidaisical, panty-waist ideas on border security, what stops these cartels from operating in this manner in Laredo, Eagle Pass, Brownsville, or El Paso?

I could care less for anyone's brilliant ideas on stopping all drug use and ushering in some Utopian drug free society.
I DO care about the fact that anyone can walk right up to the Rio Grande and just wade across (and it ain't deep in most spots).
A friend of mine was just accepted as a US Marshal.  First duty assignment...  the deserts of West Texas, Human Trafficking Task Force.

Thailand absolutely has drugs.  I've been there.  Thailand also a whole litany of other vices.  I don't think you want to model your criminal justice system after them.  Plus there's that whole constitution thing...

As I grew up in the free love 1960s' era, I have known many friends that went off into the drug scene, most are dead or worthless as human beings. I used to argue a little pot use is not bad and still tend to see it that way. However, I have not seen one instance in which drug use was good only bad.

One only has to look to the Netherlands where the great social experiment of modern times has been going on for many many years. That totally open society now is a nation of addicts and read the statistics of deaths and walking breathing nothingness of these humans destroyed by the anything goes society.

Do not take my word look at the facts yourselves. Now that country is struggling to call back and control the monster they let loose.

The lesson is that it is not good to legalize it as it does not work.

Mexico and the drug war is really starting to be a big big problem with violence and it is starting to spill over into the US. If you read a little about that it will surprise you just how bad it is.

Corruption within their government and their army has led to a very bad situation that we better take notice of. The reasons as stated are many our demand fits in there as well. It does not matter now, why, it has to be dealt with.

I had a friend sent to Mexico, along with others, at one time by our government to deal with the drug lords and they did in the most effective way.... that needs to be done again by our military or special ops if necessary. I have friends on the border and they say it is really dangerous and scary to live there.

The threat is growing to our citzens and nation to this violence in Mexico and I for one are for taking action if the Mexican Government can or will not.

Well what happens if the Mexican Government can no longer control their people and we have refuges flooding our border? Do you think that could happen? Hell the Mexican Gov. already put out a book on how to immigrate to the USA. Dale

What makes you think they are trying to control them? Seems to me they are encouraging them to come here.

Maybe texas should regulate them like feral hogs? Might even get some trophy hunters down there for some hunts! Put that on mexican TV, it might slow the flood a little.

Quite a few years ago I was hunting the King ranch with 4 arrows outfitters. At check in we were givin the camp rules and were told we wereallowed to shoot 2 feral hogs and 1 javelina. We were also advised that we may see wetbacks sneeking through the brush. My reply was "what is the bag limit on them?" I was givin a strange look by th guide.  When we walked out of the camphouse these three good old boys from Mississippi stopped me and stated, " Billy for a yankee you seem like a heck of a good guy, we just want you to know we have a shovel if you need to borrow it."  :D :D

a friend of a friend was eating dinner when the game warden came to the door and escourted him to the trash can with the hawk laying on it that he had shot that afternoon . seemed he collected hawk feet ( they searched the house and found over 50 pair ) . Then there is a story going around about a bear with one .
