Glock 20 Long Side Question
« on: January 21, 2009, 06:28:07 AM »
I am thinking of using a glock 10mm for deer hunting here in Ohio.  The law requires a minimum of a 5" barrel.  I know that you can purchase longer barrels for the Glock, but I was trying to find a way to get a longer slide so the barrel wouldn't extend past the slide.  Lone Wolf has claimed to be making these long slides for a while, but I have yet to see them.  Does anyone know of anyway of getting a long slide 10mm?  Your help is appreciated.

If you are only using it for hunting why do you need the long slide?

I was wondering the same thing.

I would like to have the longer slide, if available, for the longer sight picture and for cosmetic looks.  I was just wondering if anyone knew of a longer slide.

I have a lone wolf compensated barrel on my 19, and while it isn't pretty it works well.  I guess I wouldn't think that little bit on the sight radius would make a bit of difference.  Were I to carry it I would be concerned with the longer barrel hanging up in the holster, but it never has to date.

We use reloads, and copper plated bullets, so an aftermarket barrel is nice.  And it groups better with the lone wolf.

Ohio hunter here, and like you, wanted the LW long slide, to go with my 6" LW barrel. Two hunting seasons have come, and gone, and the long slides still aren't available. After giving it considerable thought, and coming to the realization of what a long slide is going to cost, I have decided to just stay with the regular G20 slide, and use the 6" barrel dropped in for hunting! 350-400 dollars is not worth spending, for me, just to add 1 1/2 inches of sighting plane to the G20.

Not sure if they still do, but heard, at one time, Caspian made a LS, but I'm sure they would be costly also.

I thought they were getting around that temporarily by using G-21 .45acp 6" slides (Lone Wolf) with 10mm conversion barrels (KKM).

I think it can be done on either a G-20 or G-21 frame.

Lone Wolf's website says to call with any questions about slides, it says they can make just about anything.

I had a G-20 for a couple of years and it had plenty of accuracy and sight radius with the standard barrel and slide. Glock sells the 6" hunting barrel for under $200, KKM makes a great drop in button rifled barrel, including a 6" model.

Get a 6" barrel now, then it will fit the 6" slides when they come out.
