Rolling Block Stock?
« on: August 25, 2003, 02:36:43 AM »
I recently picked up a Remington Rolling Block action and am going to have it case hardened and barreled.  I am looking to pick up a stock and forend for this gun and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on a good stock maker.

Lone Star (Texas) does custom Rolling block rifle work.

Boyds has Remington Rolling Block stocks, as do several other custom stock makers.

Try a web search for "rolling block stocks" or "rifle stocks".

Treebone has several different styles of gunstock blanks of different designs, including both straight and pistol grip, sporting and military tangs.

:D  Dalton, I'm going through the same process myself right now.  So far, the best bets I've found are Treebone, Dave Crossno, and CPA, all have different styles, depending on what exactly you're looking for in a stock.  I'm thinking af having Treebone shape a piece of fancy walnut for mine, in their shotgun-butt style, with the Creedmoor style metal forend tip.  Crossno and CPA both have websites, but you'll have to contact Treebone's by email or phone.

Dave Crossno Stocks in Oklahoma has a great variety of shapes, and his work is excellent! His specialty is single shot rifles. I recently had Dave cut the wood for my Remington Hepburn project, and I am very pleased.
I've used Treebone also, and can't reccommend George as highly.

I got inexpensive wood from Guy Owen in W. Virginia 540-888-3952.  Call before 3pm.  It is basically reamed to fit and needs to be sanded, etc.  I'm still working on it and expect to spend quite a lot of time to finish it up nice - if this is what you have in mind.  Good luck on your project!
