Where did all the republicans go?
« on: January 21, 2009, 11:51:43 AM »
Hillary was approved 94-2 today as secretary of state!? I guess that isn't an important enough job for them to stand up and show some cajones? Tim Pawlenty, the republican governor of my state was on msnbc today. He said that "we need to step back and let them do their jobs." I have always liked Pawlenty, but when he said that i almost threw up. Are the republicans just going to lay down for four years and hope there are enough scraps left for a meal?

The Republicans are gone, most of the real ones with the old conservative ways are in the real world, not in Congress.  They not only sit back and say nothing, they actually think that their people want them to be bipartisan.  So I guess they all just vote the same for the most part, in the name of getting along.  Too bad.  They got what they deserved.  They sold their people out.  I also don't think it would have been fair to real republicans to have a president who was a republican, who voted/acted like a democrat either (we have experienced that long enough), so I say the real republicans out there are better off not getting stuck with a bad example for a republican president either.  The name don't mean much if the person wearing it can't step up to the plate.  Just my opinion.

By the way, Mirage1988, are you hoping for Franken or Coleman in the senate race? Now that the state  supreme "court" agreed to hear Franken's arguments on a very clear statute I think Franken will win. He won't steal it. The canvassing board and the supreme court will do all the stealing.

Even now, with an election that will be so close that the number of illegal voters will exceed the margin of victory, the Democrats are saying that requiring a photo ID and advance voter registration are solutions looking for a problem. By the way, why did all those Somalis in the twin cities get language assistance to vote? Last time I checked you need to be a US citizen to vote, and foreigners becoming citizens must pass a language test.

"Where did all the republicans go?"

If not to the left, they have fallen for this bipartisan BS. Consorting with the enemy only helps the enemy. Hopefully many acts of nature or accidents will befall democratic senators from states with conservative Governors. I do not consider the liberals as people deserving the rights in our great nation.

It will be very interesting to see what happens to republican fund raising during the next few years. I hope that small contributions from shlubs like me drop to zero.

being from NY you guys are not seeing the big picture here.  I no longer have to say she is my senator lol.  Honestly I see this as a major conspiracy against Hillary and I love it.  The new ummm president will fire her by spring due to too many conflicts with the fund raising.  Give her enough rope to hang herself and she will.  The senate power gone the new power gone her and Billary umm gone.  He has out foxed the foxes.  This may not be as bad as you think.

The ultra conservative "Republicans" didn't vote for McCain.  That's why we are where we are at.  Now they think by not supporting the Republican party that things will get better. ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

Maybe Ron Paul can make them feel better :)

There are very few conservative politicians in DC:  Just look at the national debt.  Prior to 1980 the Republican party was truly conservative in fiscal and international policy.  In 1980 the Republican party changed its spots in favor of percolator economics, opposition to abortion, opposition to flag burning, opposition to gay marriage and a host of other feel good stuff under the banner of the so called "moral majority."   The national Republican party abandoned fiscal conservatism in favor of crushing budget deficits.

In the years that president Bush was in office the Republican congress did nothing for individual gun owners.  They refused to pass country wide reciprocity in concealed carry because they really did not feel good about law abiding folks carrying guns:  Oh, yes, they did it for cops and retired cops but not for the general populace.

Some of you will say that the Republican congress "let" the AWB expire.  Well, it was supposed to expire in ten years and that is what happened.  Many Republicans in congress have this attitude that it is "either us or those truly anti-gun Democrats."

DC Democrats and Republicans are as alike as two crap sandwiches.

I should have titled that better- what i really meant was where have all the conservatives gone?
It really shocked me that a state governor, especially the governor of my state would say such a thing. Correct me if i'm wrong but I thought that governors were required to have a balanced budget. Why would a governor  from the opposing party say that? We should just step back and let him run the deficit up a trillion dollars a year? That is my take on what he said.

Mirage1988:

I think it's because of an infectious party atmosphere. The TARP funds are not being used for their originally intended purpose, and now Obama wants to spend a lot more. This puts politicians in the position of going around the country acting like Santa Claus. The governors want their presents too.

The conservative Republicans are where thy have always been....NOT IN DC.  How long has it been since a true conservative Republican voted FOR a canidate in anything larger that an local race? Since Reagan, maybe Bush1, every single voting platform has been "I'm not a Democrat!"

Despite the major problems that I have with him...Obama is the first president to be voted FOR office in America in years, and I still say that most were still voting against the last 8 years of Bush.

THERE ARE NOT TWO PARTIES IN WASHINGTON, DC.  These people call each other names and question each others integrity, then go out to dinner together and share a limo.  Let me ask each of you gentleman a simple question.  If someone questioned your integrity, would you ever have a voluntary social event with them again???? I think not.
This that I do, I do by my own free will.

I'm proud to say that John Cornyn from Texas voted NAY on Hillary.
He will continue to get my vote here in Texas.  He has been true to his word every step of the way, not another RINO.

He is one of the few remaining conservatives in the Republican party.

Cornyn and Hutchison both voted for the Bail out on the first go around. Neither will get my vote again!

The Republican party is dead in my eyes. The party as a whole has moved to far to the left for me to support it anymore. The party is leaderless and void of anyone with leadership abilities. Pallin gave me a glimmer of hope, but the Republican party seems to want her to go away and are more than willing to throw her under the bus and blame her for their losses.

I am proud to be Libertarian as of this last election cycle.

We have not  gone anywhere.
You pick your battles and you let the high-fiving, trash-talk, huggin & kissin run its course, and IT WILL.
When reality is needed, step in and show your strengths.
The Democrats are not a party of realist and I don't believe they will let reality influence them.
We need too be prepared for the next round of elections and see if we can get the table back too level, at least.
What will be , will be and a soverign God has it all in control and it is his way I will follow.

People that tout Lincoln as such a great man seem to over look all the American blood on his hands.  But then again alot of these same people are for killing babies so innocent blood on the hands doesn't bother them one bit.

I will say that I don't want to see a house divided, I could care less if all and I mean all the liberal scum were to either leave the country or were killed. I have no desire to compromise anything to the filthy ideals of the liberals. Any idea or issue that is relevant to a liberal is not worth wasting time on.

The Republicans that are left are scared that they will be steamrolled like what happened in the last election when the press was just an extension of the democratic party and were merely cheerleaders for the left. They ignored anything material that did not flatter OB1 and never missed a chance to bash "W"

IMO The "representatives" in Washington showed us what our opinions mean to them back when the first bailout was voted on. They ignored their constituants and voted it in no matter what "we" said. The arrogant SOBs think we dont have a clue and voted the way they wanted to.

It is important, and I cant stress "important" enough, That WE THE PEOPLE Let them know that we dont like what is going on and will do something about it as soon as we get a chance to vote again.
WE all need to get off of our " lazy dont bother me with  pollitical BS asses" and stand up for what is important to Us.  IF big government taking over is what "we" want then we will soon get it. Hell we have it now! Gov owns the banks and The big three and will be telling them how to do business !

I ,you , us and them better let government know if we dont like what is going on or soon we will loose the ability to have a say!!!!  Start at your local level and take the government back one Representative at a time

One thing I am proud of is that even in a DEmocratic stronghold like Southeast Texas The "communist party" did not carry one county in November. But that wont matter a damn if WE as a nation dont let our voices be heard and say Hell No when it gets close to a vote for the next big big government takeover. Just think what it will be like if national health insurance gets started. Just ask a Canadian if you dont know what I'm talking about.   IF you want a hand out then you have the right party in power if you dont think there will be strings attached then guess again "Bro"

Yours Truly a conservative in Exile

Lincoln was correct and he set about making sure it was not a divded nation.
Because of some blunders in leadership the war ran far longer than it should.
When the leadership was solved the steamroller took over.
It cost many lives, but, IMO, it was worth the cost and we are one nation undivided.
The Republicans have taken the high road and are cooperaiting. It is not a time too stand and create logjams. It is a time for solutions and who cares who comes up with the correct solution.
I think, in the end the Republicans have the better answers, but, I pray that the correct answers are found quickly and implimented.
Blessings
