It's in the Constitution. Didn't see NRA in the text.

Is this a rhetorical question or are you looking for an actual discussion with respect for other people's opinions?

I work with some guys that do a lot of shooting, hunting, CCW, etc...and some of them belong to other organizations such as Gun Owners of America and some others.  I don't think the NRA is the beginning and end all of people who use guns.  Any activism is good, and it's probably a good idea to attack from different angles so to speak as well, so all organizations that support gun ownership are welcome.  I also don't think a gun owner needs to be beat up for not belonging to anything, if you want to bring them around to any organization, maybe show them something about it that would be of interest to them.  Some people don't like being pushed into such things.  I know I don't.  The NRA does a lot of good, but they are getting cheesy in some area's as well.

I think every gun owner and freedom lover should join the NRA plus any others that they can afford. The NRA membership is the big one that politicians often use as a referendum on their anti-gun agenda. While there are other organizations that do fine work and that deserve your dues money, the NRA is in the public eye and each membership makes a statement. I don't see our new president vetoing any anti-gun legislation so we've got to gear up to stop bills at the commitee or congressional stage. The NRA is in the best position to do that in both percieved and actual clout.

I agree. The NRA is the one the libs fear, nobody on their side even mentions all the other gun organizations. NRA first, then if you want to do more maybe some other outfit.

As long as you (anybody) belongs to an organization that fights to protect gun owners and their rights, I`d say that`s a good thing.
I just belong to the NRA.   Different strokes for different folks.   :)

well it's about money as usual.I remeber just a few short years ago that a Life membership cost $100,now it's around $700 or so.Now I don't know what you do for a living, but thats a new firearm for me....I do realize that the cost of things has increased and will keep increasing, but $700 bucks is a bit much, donca think???If the life membership cost $400,that would be do-able,I'll write a check today. But I won't write one for $700.An before someone crys the patriot card,I kept you safe in the night for 4 years with the 82nd.

Takes a good question. WHY, do people go out and spend big money on guns then don't want to spend a little bit each year to protect their GUN OWNERSHIP RIGHTS  ??? ???
I've been a Life Long Member of the NRA for over 40 years. Not a Lifetime member cause I signup for 3 years at a time. Don't ask me why. ???
No, I don't like some of the things the NRA does, but they and all the other gun organizations are what keeping us gunowners.( For now )
We are in the worst times right now with the Obama Crew working to take our guns and all our shooting rights away from all of us. It's going to affect all of us collecters, hunters, shooters, plinkers, competition shooters, gun shows and anything that has to do with a gun.
So get off your butts and put a small amount of money into one of your favorite gun rights organizations to fight these anti's. Or we won't have anything to talk about on Graybeard Outdoors in a few years. :'( :'(
