What model is this Tikka?
« on: January 23, 2009, 08:34:51 AM »
I have found a 7mm-08 rifle for sale that is listed as a Sako/Tikka. I am thinking this is a model 695 or 595 (I don't know the difference.) Was this model a good one and as accurate as the newer T3 models? I think this barrel is longer than the present T3's 22 7/16". Here are the only pictures I can get of it ...

I appreciate any info you can give me.

I have a 695 in 7mm mag.  Its a good shooter.  The trigger came from the factory set to 2.5 lbs.  I was out the other day and was getting .75 inch groups with factory ammo.

They are worth about $500.

JimFromTN ...

I appreciate your reply. I was kind of guessing that it was a model 695 but I wasn't sure. I am not sure if the rifle is still available but it is a caliber that I am wanting.

Thanks again Jim ...

The picture isn't showing up for me, but if it's a 7mm08 it's not a 695, it would be a 595 short action. The 695 is a long action gun. The 595/695 is every it as accurate as a T3. The action and barrel are a little heavier. If it's a sporter 595 (not the continental) it will have the same 22 7/16 barrel length as a T3.  I have 3 595's, one 695 and one T3.

smk ... thank you for your information. I am not sure why my pictures seem to "delete" after they have been posted for a while but it has happened several times. Anyway, the rifle has already been sold and I learned something ... so all is not lost.
