Remington bulk 22
« on: January 23, 2009, 03:17:25 PM »
Have been buying 22 bulk packs for awhile ,just got out today and realized 7 or 8 out of roughly 60 were no good,I also bought some federals over the last several months and havent tried them yet but will. Try the bulks before you stock up on junk .  Also shot several other non bulk boxes of 22 with no problems so its not the gun. live and learn I guess

I guess I have been lucky, it has been a long time
since I have had a misfire. I am fanatical about a clean gun
though especially the area where the rim rests in the chamber.

Morn'in shooters,

Haven't checked lately, but the last time I followed the subject at Rimfire Central, Remington .22s were getting a lot of bad press!

Enough so to place it toward the bottom or maybe off the "to buy"  list.

Yes, some firearms are picky, but this situation goes back to manufacture.

If you want good Remington .22s, you can always buy the Rem/Eley target ammo. Pricy but very good.

Of course, "ELEY" is the magic word here.

Keep em coming!

Seems like most at RimfireCentral prefer Federal and badmouth Remington Golden Bullets. My experience has been exactly the opposite. Most of my 22s shoot Golden Bullets very well and none of the Federal is good at all. Quite a few misfires and the accuracy is poor, even Federal Automatch which is not cheap, bulk ammo.

Keep em coming!

Of all the bulk ammo I've used the Remington's seem to bother my guns the most. Not so much in misfires, but with feeding and grouping. Federal 550 packs are better but I've have the best luck with Federal Auto Match ( think 350 in a pack ). They cost a whisker bit more but they work best for me.

I've had lots of misfires with the Remington bulk .22 ammo, myself. I didn't realize that it was happening to everyone.

I quit buying Rem 22 ammo years ago for the same reason, and bought Federal in the bulk.

Now I'm starting to have the same problem with some of the Federal.
Quality control has gone down the tube, I think.

My 10/22 likes the Federal Automatch best of all, but it's hard to find in stock.
As a matter of fact! 22 ammo is hard to find on the shelf around my neck of the woods.

One , I stay away from, is the Federal Champion. The American Eagle, in bulk seems to shoot well in my rifles.

I shy away from Remington rimfires..with the possible exception of yellowjackets upon occasion. Bulk..Fed or superX.. Favorite fodder for most of my rifles is CCI Mini-Mags..
