Victory Motorcycles

They produce the most unattractive bikes I've ever seen.  They don't make a single model I like.  What do you think?

I think some of them look cool
I am not a fan of the Victory Vision... it looks like what ZZ Top was doing to old cars in the 1980's.

Nice to see an American made bike with technology instead of same old same old

I have seen the Vision close up a few times, and do not like the styling. As far as the mechanical design goes, they are effective and interesting.

The HD Sportsters of any vintage are my favorite (and what I ride).  I also like Triumph twins.

I've been trying to make myself like one Victory model or another, but I just can't do it.   :-[   I had a club brother who had one of their dressed out cruisers and he loved it.  So much that when he totaled that one killing one a them murder-cycle wreckin' bambi's he replaced it with another one just like it.   ;D

IMHO......bikes are like guns. One man's treasure is another man's junk. Don't matter to me what a man/woman rides as long as they ride.

The vegas could be glammed up a little with a set of mini-apes and set of pipes. The ugliest thing on all the victories are the huge tractor pipes they have to put on them to meet emissions.

If you took a Saws-all to the fenders, they would look 100% better.  I like the motors.  Drop one in a rigid frame, add a Sportster tank, & a set of drag pipes and you'd have something nice.  Flat black would be a good color.

None really do it for me but I can't say anything negative about them having no first-hand experience with them. Just nothing they make is of the style I prefer -  British.  :)

Could be worse...specially if you are riding a Vulcan 800 Classic like I am.

Not much that I can say cept the former owner (and a good friend) misses the high preformance and low maint cost for this bike as compared to the monies that he has spent on his used Heritage. I rode that Heritage that he bought and upon my return told him "Tom, it felt like it wanted to go to New Orleans!" (a 800mile trip) I know, he replyed...it is like that every time!.
He refers to my ride as Ole-Yeller and has had it to Bike week eight times (trailored) I guess that the Outlaws would clap and cheer when he pulled into a parking lot and put the bike down on the side stand without falling over!

I could own a Hammer. I like the looks of the Victory up close a whole lot better than in the pictures on the web page. Two of them in my town both red and I like them. They are both the earlier models and have not given the owners any problem besides the one has broke a drive belt. I was also at a rally in Springer Ok and saw another Victory break a belt doing the slow race. I don't know if this is a big problem with Victory's but two breaking a belt was odd.

I probably would not own one of them ,though they are interesting . What I ride , very few would like and most would laugh at . 77 Honda Goldwing , bobbed with suicide shift . I did get it with a nice payment plan . Bought 5;00 worth of gas on the way to pick it up. This summer I plan on puttin around 20 k on it .
Do have plans on a later model 1800 some time in the future , but I am not in any hurry .
My brother in law has an 08 1500 Suzuki that I kept and rode for a few days . It reminded me again I just don't like v twins that much. I really don't know why , I was a mechanic for around 7 years in the 80 to 87 year range , plenty of really nice bikes came through the shop . I rode all the English , Italian, German, Jap , and us bikes constantly.
I could have picked up some really nice Harleys for very low prices , but for some reason they just don't do it for me. I do love to ride though and after a close to 18 year no ride season I have discovered it all over. ;D

Thanks myronman...I kind of figured that myself. I think that the attitudes on what one rode were a lot more prevailant in the 70's. I had never ran into any trouble myself regarding my ride...It is smooth & powerful and generates an unbelievable amount of low end torque even with a passenger at low speeds and in a higher gear. If you crack the throttle, it will make rpm quickly and just be gone!...it does have four valves per cylinder which I believe enhances this.

I sold my bike a few years ago, an 83 Kaw. KZ 750. You couldn't stand to ride it much over a couple hours at a time, but it would flat git it. I don't know if somebody had been into the engine or not, but it was the quickest "stock bike" I ever rode.

If I were looking for a new one today, I would take a serious look at Victory. I like'em. American made and different. There are a couple of models I don't care for, but hey, when it's American made in this day and age, then I'm all for it.

The Victory dealer let me ride all the available models before I bought my Kingpin, and I didn't have to pay "rent". I particulary liked the "fatter" front tire of the Kingpin, while I wasn't as fond of the "fender skirts" many of you have so "lovingly" pointed out :P. (They look more like something off an old "Indian".) The fatter front tire made cornering easier me than on a Vegas or Hammer. Having the belt on the right side helps balance the bike while gaining access to the accessories. The pipes, while large are easily replaced if you don't like in a state that requires every EPA mandated piece of equipment "known to man".
I've driven it for 7500 miles thus far without a "belt" break or any other maintenance problem. The oil cooler is a worthwhile feature (standard equipment) that has kept it from overheating even in "bumper-to-bumper" traffic without shuting down a cylinder or dropping my gas milege. The ride is comfortable without being too compliant, but I do miss all the "tingling" sensation after riding for a few hours on a more "socially correct" American bike :).
My neighbor has a couple of Harley's and has offered to loan me his really nice trailer if I make some long trips, but so far I've not needed to take him up on his offer. However, that sure would be a nice trailer if it had Victory painted on it and didn't have those "gosh awful" fender skirts attached to it ;D ;D ;D
I'll keep my "Vic" and my cash I uaually set aside for "dealership" maintenance. I do like to ride and agree with Myronman that any bike is better than none; it nice to have someone agree with your choices, but in the end your opinion is the only one that matters. Ride safe, ride often!
