It only makes sense that the greatest firearm company in the world, should buy the greatest lever action firearm company in the world.

Winchester's gone.....You can't put a bag over the head of a Ruger.

But the Marlins were & are the best.  If you can't beat them, join them.

to heavy , and if you want a scope on it get a BLR that shoots a round that can take advantage of the scope .

My .30-30 Marlins shoot 1" groups at 100 meters.  They weigh a lot less than the BLR.

I had 2 that did not , but that could happen with any brand . Glad you got a good one . My 7X30 waters win will do it with a scope on but i don't care for a scope on such a rifle .
Lets face it all of are good ! and we are lucky to live in such times ( as far as gun choice )
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

That would be a 30-06 or a .243 for shure the .243 may be a little lite on brown bear so pick your situations and stay out of a pickle if your on your own for 1/2 a year at a time.
the .308 would be another
Scoped is best, have a back up or two (I have one I can remove from my 10/22 to pull duty on a centerfire if needed)
Where your living has allot to do with what you choose, if its the NorthWest Coast its distance shooting 300 yards if its at Hanes the range wouldent be so great due to country & ground cover.
Whatever you pick its best to think of this it costs allot to move to the bush (freighting your stuff out) ammo it would be best to buy local.

You know, I was just looking at this again and my paradigm collapsed.

If I could only own one rifle in one caliber.... I would probably take take that rifle and shoot myself.    ;D

Gotta have more than one.

Marlin 1895G in 45/70.
If I agreed with you then we would both be wrong.

Everything walking has been killled by a bow, so don't tell me a 12 ga is no goog for a moose
or caribo. An 870 pump with 3 1/2 inch chamber, that is the ticket.

BLR in 30-06, the only lever action to win my respect.  Yes I own several Marlins, 30-30, 45-70, .35 Rem, and .44 Mag.  They can't hold a candle to my BLRs.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

You forgot, they don't cost as much either?

The BLR is just too heavy for consideration.

a 20ga pump, mossberg or 870 can kill anything that walks   but i would PREFER to have more than one     how about one each - rifle shotgun and pistol       then i would keep the moss 20 ga, a bolt for reliablity in 308/30-06/303 or 8mm and my 45 1911
looking for ejectors - 308, 8mm, 35 rem, 25-20, 32-20, 357 mag, 45LC
