cridertj ;  It's not just the ammo that's hard to get.   I wouldn't doubt that if the economy keeps going down, in 10 months it'll be hard to get a gallon of paint!

I'm sure there is some panic buying and stockpiling going on right now and it will take a while before production catches up to present demand. Everything in the firearms field is in relatively short supply right now and it will probably get worse before it gets better but it will get better.
The story of David & Goliath only demonstrates the superiority of ballistic projectiles over hand weapons, poor old Goliath never had a chance.

I believe panic buying is the primary reason.  Ammo and weapons are flying of the shelves.  Finding .22 LR ammo for my son was a real chore today.  While the economy is a factor, the fear of what new resident in the White House will do is the real cause.

Blessings!

(1):  there's a war going on and 45 acp is a military caliber.  (2):  Panic buying in the face of a possible obamination - newer, stiffer regs regarding guns and ammo.  (3) The ammo manufacturers, like gas suppliers, are quite keen on supply and demand - if they keep the supply low the demand climbs as does the price.  The alst time I purchased a case of 7.62x39mm ammo I paid only $150, I think.  Now you cannot purchase 250 rounds for that and it is rediculous.

I find it interesting that when the price of gas went up, people complained but when the price of ammo goes up nobody says anything.  What, bullets aren't important????? Mikey.
