Got my Handi back, 7 months, 8 days, A record?
« on: January 24, 2009, 09:47:02 AM »
I finally got my rifle back today, had not actually seen it since June.

Looks like when UPS returned it for damage, they didn't fix anything that was broken. Front sight was broke off and not included in the box. Looking at the screw hole, I can't tell if there's a piece of screw in there or not. Rear sight is smashed. Receiver is scratched up, little dings all over the rifle.

They didn't include the fore end piece I ordered, but they did rework the trigger, probably on the original work order. I haven't tried to fit the old barrel back on yet, it's at my parents house.

So, basically they just put the damaged gun back in a new box and sent it back to me. Only took 3 more months and getting an FFL dealer involved. Oh, and no check for transfer fee. Oh, I just noticed, Where in the hell is my offset hammer spur?

Looks like I'll be screwing around with them on the phone next week for new sights, a new offset spur, and a fore end.

I guess I wont be sending for a new barrel until rem sells of the H&R division :(

I hate when a giant company buys up a small company. They seem to ruin small companies a majority of the time.

I wouldn't be so quick to judge, those done recently have been great.

I ordered  an ultra 223 bull barrel. They received the order 12-29-08. I called Jan 9 to have them add a Monte Carlo stock. Customer service checked the order and said too late the gun is finished. I said I was told it would take six weeks. All it needs is proof tested you will have it in two weeks. On the order I asked that an extra base plate be added since I could use it on my Hornet in lieu of a hammer spur which I had. The gun arrived on 1-23-09. They send along the extra base plate and as far as I can see every thing is just fine. Ithough that was good efficient service and I am completely satisfied.

jsoukup,
I'm sorry to hear about your problem. In my mind that kind of service is inexcusable and would be enough to make me turn my back on them forever. I can only hope that they can and will somehow make it up to you.

That stinks jsoukup! I hope they can resolve this in a timely manner.
I just got confirmation that they received my frame to have the 357
barrel fitted. Almost 3 weeks to the day that I sent it off.

Yep, you got me beat by alot.  Give 'em hell >:( and tell them you want charges taken off and the missing parts sent to you free.  You will get all of the above.  They did go out of their way to please me once I got done messing with them, but it took several phone calls.  Sorry you got the record, my man.   DP

Absolutely disgusting! better buy all the handis you want now, I think it's safe to say they won't be around too much longer. I have seen some real garbage from them lately in a few shops I have stopped in, NIB guns I wouldn't take home for free! Such a shame, H&R was a darn good company once upon a time.

Been in contact with Remington this morning. They're sending me a UPS label, so back it goes, again.

Maglvr44 That's a pretty broad comment on your part. Did you look at all those NIB guns to check the build dates. Just cause it's new in the box at a shop don't always mean it's New stock. There have always been problems with most companies and thier customer service .jsoukup just got burnt bad and from all reports it's just something that happens and  for the most part not the norm. I put my old barrel on last night. Still fits tight. Talk about a sigh of relief.

When my huntsman arrived with smashed sights and a missing recoil pad they sent me the parts, I didn't have to send the rifle back.

Your luck seems to run about as good as mine..  I absolutely HATE having to send anything away for work – because it always seems that things for me come out just like they did for you.  I once had a UPS order (from a major reloading company) that never arrived.  UPS fought me every step of the way claiming that, “they delivered the package”.  Unfortunately, delivering to the WRONG address doesn’t (in my book) qualify as “delivery”.  All I know is the package wasn’t delivered to MY address.

It wound up taking almost six months to get the order replaced – and many of the items were things that I needed right away.  I wound up having to buy a lot of what I’d ordered because of need and when they *finally* got me a new shipment – much of what I got was no longer necessary.  I do anything possible to avoid shipping stuff.

In fact – I’m sort-of embroiled in a shipping problem as I type this…  I ordered a rifle that was sent to my FFL dealer, and the rifle arrived – but is missing 2 magazines and the scope (which is about $280-$300 worth of product that I didn’t get).  The good news (if there is any) is that the shipping issue is between the distributor and my dealer.  The bad part is that none of that has helped my blood pressure.
Politicians and diapers both require frequent changing for the EXACT same reason…

I just bought an SB2-T57 (45-70 SS) through Davidsons.  Gun was supposed to come with the hammer extension (spur).  Mine didn't have one.  Called Davidsons....they checked the other 3 they had in stock and none of them had a spur either.  Was told it would be 3-4 weeks before I get my spur.

I'll bet you can order one for cash money and get it faster than that.

It never hurts to have a few spares. Of course you shouldn't have to order it though..

Call em and ask them to send it to ya, the nickel plated extension is part #R03050, their price is $9.55, toll free 866-776-9292.

I'm going to call them, but I don't think I should have to pay for a part that is supposed to be stock for that gun.  That gun was not cheap.

I gave you the price so you'd be inclined to ask them to just send it to you since it's supposed to come with it, instead of just ordering one as someone else suggested.  ;) No, they aren't cheap, I paid $382 shipped for mine from Bud's last year, they're even more now.  :-\

It is amazing how things can deteriorate so quickly.  About a year and a half ago I sent a frame in to Gardner and had it back with 3 barrels, in excellent condition in 21 days.
